Let's go fast in the wet.
This just makes me smile.
Watch: Onboard with Patrick Depailler by Web Editor on 9th August 2016 Happy-go-lucky Frenchman Patrick Depailler would have been 72 today. If you need a reminder of his flair, car control and fearlessness, go onboard with him at a sodden Montreal in a Tyrrell 008. Quick hands - and manual shifting. I'd forgotten what a neat course Long Beach was (I watched a CART there back in the '80s).

Pretty amazing. It's impressive how well that thing accelerated in what looks like a fair amount of water.
I thought this was going to be a sarcastic thread about people driving like morons in the rain. I've seen a few great examples over the years.

was at that Long Beach race. Up Pine along Ocean and down Linden. Have some great shots of the cars as they hit the crest and started down Linden. In those days you didn't stay at the track after the festivities. Not particularly safe though some interesting "show bars". Lots of long shoremen from the docks

The Montreal video almost looks like he was driving on slicks. If so, he was a very brave man.
