A little balance
Lot of good cops in the world too.
I think we are experiencing a societal breakdown in which cops and teachers are bearing the brunt of horrible parenting which, in my opinion, is partly due to shipping lower and middle class jobs overseas. Good parenting requires confidence and self-esteem which are, in part, derived from a good job and pay, both of which are getting in short supply as hyper-capitalism continues to move our country away from manufacturing and Main Street economies to service and Wall Street economies. Nice to see some recognition of good cops out there. Ohio boy tried to sell toy for food, police say - CNN.com

My mother was always home for me when I was growing up, and I spent alot of time out doors playing neigborhood sports, or using my imagination....I can tell the difference in the way I react to things compared to my two kids. They were brought up in a home where I had to work 6-7 days a week in a hot factory, and my wife had a 9-5 office job, so when we got home, we were tired, a meal had to be fixed, homework had to be done, and chores had to be finished.....but at least we were there to support and help.
New parents raising young kids today have the whole electronic distraction world to worry about, which teaches kids to have a very short attention span, and easily bored. They honestly don't know what to do with themselves if they aren't pacified 100% of the time.....this creates ticking timebombs waiting to detonate. |

I honestly think that we'll see a general reduction in original thought over the next few decades. Nobody has the opportunity to get bored anymore. I seriously worry about the long-term impacts on science, technology, art, music, etc.

I think MOST cops are good cops, prolly 90% of them are good cops.
But the good cops gotta stop covering for the bad cops. Until they do, it's too hard to tell them apart. |
