I was 17 when that movie came out. I think I saw it in the theater 4 times. I didn't give a damn about Tarantino or the vampires. I saw it for the snake dance.

From memory... Shortly after this scene everything goes to hell.
Not bad for a Vampire movie but Quentin's character was truly disturbing.

At the end Cheech Marin supplies a 964 to Clooney's character.

And the musica backing that scene is played by Humberto "Tito" Larriva and the band Tito and Tarantula. Larriva is ex Plugz, and Cruzados. Having scored the movies Repo Man, being in Road House and Rorberto Rodriguez's previous movie before Dusk, Desperado.

Yes, yes it is... but then no one watches a vampire movie expecting great acting.
First time I saw it I had no idea who George Clooney was... having caught the movie again recently a little surprised what a good job he did as a bad guy... I also had no idea Quentin Tarantino was one of the other bad guys.

I agree, but probably not for the reason you're thinking.

Up to the point where it turned into an actual vampire movie, it was quite good. The shock of the scene where we discover that Tarantino's character is a complete psychotic was great and added a lot of tension. I thought it was brilliant.

Then the movie devolved into a beyond-cheesy sub-B-movie vampire ... thing. The moment the switch occurred it was as if everyone involved in the movie gave up and let the fake blood supplier call the shots. Instruments made of body parts? Really?

I think the reason I hate this movie so much is because of the false promise of the first part of the film.
