Car I just sold is now on Barnfinds

Where's The Rest Of The Story? TR3A Barn Find

So I guess they aren't restoring it! Just sold it Monday. Put it right back up for sale. They can, of course, do whatever they want, but I was shocked to go to one of my favorite websites and see my car staring out at me. Car buying & selling is an odd business.

The eBay listing has already been closed, so they must have sold it already.

I don't get the hate for flippers. Did you sell the car? It's not yours any more. Who cares what the person that you sold it to does with it? It's their car.

If they buy my stuff and sell it two days later for more than what they paid me it just means I sold it too cheap or they found someone to over pay.

As long as I'm counting my money I don't really care.

Yup, a lot of these guys tell whoever their buying some story that isn't true, and whoever buys it from them gets some story that isn't true either.

I don't expect any story I hear from a buyer to be true or false. In other words, I have no expectation whatsoever. You can't be upset or disappointed that way!

When I sell something, I do my best to get what I want for it. If I do, great. If I don't, I either don't sell or sell and deal with the lower sale price.

I just sold 2 cars, to a supposed " race shop " In Texas. Guy pays instantly , but 30 days later, the cars are still on my property . I get a little bit of a run around, and then one day, a shipper calls me at 9 am , and says he is on his way to pick up the cars. Really pissed my off, because I specifically asked the guy to give me heads up so that I could have the cars ready to be picked up. Neither one ran, and both were indoors . I did not want to have to do the shuffle right smack in the middle of my work day .
Shipper tells me he has to deliver the cars by 9 am next day, so he has to hustle. I ask him how the heck he plans on making Texas that fast, and he tells me he is heading for the docks in Norfolk Va, not Texas
I am willing to bet, the buyer filpped the cars. He put me off long enough to broker a deal to Europe, and never even laid eyes on the cars .
I got what I wanted out of them .
It is getting weird out there.

Yes, fastFred, they drop shipped them. You were free storage.

I know a flipper thru mutual friend. He told me that he once relisted a car he had not yet even bought yet. He agreed on a price over the phone, and came to get the car a few days later. The seller had clearly seen the new ad, with a much higher price. Thy guy said the seller wanted to kill him, but did the deal while holding back tears and holding off the urge to bludgeon flipper with a hammer.

So, they're title-skipping and getting away with it routinely? I'd never buy a car on a previous owners title.

Because there is usually a story. In Florida there are guys that comb craigslist. They will pounce then flip. When you talk to them - they know nothing about the car - the car is typically still titled in the previous owner - "Oh I'll give you a bill of sale, that should take care of it"

That's why

To avoid this situation you could put a condition of the sale that car(s) be removed within say 48 hours of receipt of money . If cars still there after 48 hours the sale is off. Yes selling a car privately can be challenging. It's actually a PITA....
