The official CAT thread
So today was the day..... Dobby' visit to the vet. What possibly could go wrong.........?
This is one day I have been dreading since our last visit to the vet...... Annual check-up & shot day! (Insert dramatic soundtrack) I've been running our herd/pack to the vet this past week for everyone's checks & shots. At the tune of hundreds of dollars, it's all part n parcel to have the four legged family members. However, this day is one that has had a foreboding hanging over it. For today was the day that Dobby(The terror, butthead, sh$@head, Mr Hide, Captain Bipolar) had his turn. Dobby is our outdoor cat that has unrestricted access to the area under the house so technically he is an indoor/outdoor cat. We call the area Dobby's Lair. Our home network is labeled "Dobby's House of Pain Home Network". You get the idea. He is fine when he out and about or in his area but becomes a total terror if he sneaks into the house where the other cats reside. It's like he goes full mountain Lyon, hence the Captain Bipolar title. So, I get some sedatives from the vet(red flag #1) and directions to "sedate" him two hours before the visit(red flag #2), yes, it gets better.... At 8:00AM my alarm fires off to give him his meds. I pull the best cheese, meat, bacon, hotdog pieces I can find to pull this little feat off. He takes the UN-meded pieces like a fat kid after a cupcake at fat camp. I'm thinking I'm down for the deception so I try it with the tablet broken into quarter pieces for ease of administering. Well, he won't have anything to do with them, just licks them around and then he looks at me with his "nice try" look. Did I mention these pills are hot pink and start dissolving on contact? So now I try and fail to disguise them creatively as they are dissolving all on my fingers. So now I am starting to wrestle with him so he is effectively grey, white and pink. In the end, and at the cost of bites, scratches and a wayward tic bite(on me), I end up sitting on him and forcing his mouth open to force a pill down his throat then clamp his mouth shut. All the time he is spinning with his velociraptor claws flying. I had to do this because he cheeked the tablet earlier then spat it out 4 minutes later. I then let him go, he darts off giving me his best FU. I go back upstairs to let the meds(I hope he swallowed) take hold and do their thing. Five minutes after I get inside, remember the tic bite? I actually feel a "pinch"to my lower back, I look and see that I just got tagged by a frigging tic. I immediately remove it and clean the area with antiseptic. Great! Now I need to worry about Lyme disease. In the meantime, Dobby is laughing his a$$ off. Who won that battle? Two hours later, I go to retrieve him for his visit and attempt to cram a 20 lb cat into a 4 pound cat carrier. I forgot to mention I also need to take my Penny Dreadful insulated welding gloves for the visit... So I would like to share with all of you some short videos of Dobby who is Tripping Balls in a big way....like N.P.H. When I went to get him after being medicated. Better living through modern chemistry https://vimeo.com/189070884 After I get him into the cat carrier. https://vimeo.com/189075539 On the way to the vet..https://vimeo.com/189075657 No video was possible while the wrestling match was going in at the vet. And the final parting shot after the battle at the vet and back home http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...124145a4c8.jpg Needless to say, I'm not on his Christmas card list and will probably find a turd in my work boots. At least you didn't say "look, my cock found a pussy" or anything...
Here's Lucy (Linus' mom - yes I know it doesn't match up to the "Peanuts" strip where they're siblings but just go with it, that's just how it ended up...): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1479290766.jpg The black lump on the back of the chair is Mystery (cat #3). Better photo of Lucy doing what she does best: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1479290824.jpg Better photo of Mystery (he's not small by any means - probably around 20# now): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1479291170.jpg |
