As I’m currently cleaning out the garage , I went through an old suitcase and found a radio-shack zip-zap .

She loves her new outdoor toy :D

the battery only gives about 2 minutes run-time though ..

The week-before-last, Emma starting behaving a little "different" - she was hiding in one of the cat trees, and didn't seem to want to hang out with everyone. She also seemed to be getting thinner. We took her to the vet last weekend, they kept her overnight and ran some tests - turns out she has lymphoma and the vet says she has maybe another month or so left. We're monitoring her closely, trying to make the distinction of whether her pain is worse than ours.

Looks a lot like our cat "Latte".

Our cat is getting old too, no longer will sit or stand to get her hairball treats that she loves, we suspect that her joints hurt. Quite grumpy lately too. No weight loss yet, that happened to our last cat near the end.

When she loses interest in drinking water out of the bathtub faucet we will know it's over.

Sorry to hear about Emma. It is hard to watch them decline. My male cat from this brother/sister pair of rescues went through this. It took a while to diagnose. They put him on steroids which perked him up a bit and kept him around longer I suppose. Of all the pets I have had who have passed, his hit me the hardest because he was young, only 6 when he passed.

The official CAT thread

Someone please help me cut my heart out of my chest. It just hurts too dam much[emoji22]

About two months ago, Onyx my outside feral rescued kitty appeared to show signs of some type of stroke. Impaired vision/loss, balance issues, howling and general confusion. After multiple vet visits and medication, she appeared to bound back....... No explanation and her blood panels came back indicating a slight thyroid imbalance. She seemed 95% with her back to using her kitty tree and affectionately giving me nose breaking head butts. Two weeks ago she started showing signs of a relapse, this time the symptoms were worse. Her level of confusion was more obvious, she began eating less and no real interest in water which she has always been a power drinker. What really had me concerned was she now was drooling long tendrils at times. I picked up meds and began treatment hoping to see her rebound. I wasn't picky, just please show me some progress I'm not greedy I swear, just please give me something, anything.

Because of her weight loss, I picked up some kitten formula and began hand feeding her with the intent of giving her some fluids throughout the day via a feeding plunger hoping to get some nutrients into her. She would eat a little of her wet food but only if I held her food bowl in front of her. I began seeing unusual facial tendencies as she attempted to eat. As if she was ramming her chin into her hood bowl while I was holding it. I was determined not to give up hope and do everything I could to keep her going.

Yesterday my hand was forced and after a very long appointment with our vet the decision had to be made. Sitting in a quiet corner of the back office, my Onyx passed in my arms wrapped in her favorite blanket as I softly spoke to her and scratcher her ears. Our vet and her staff were very kind and reassuring in my moments of grief.

I then took her out to my parents ranch and buried her with our other grandma kitty who passed a couple of months ago.

Our home is now quiet...........to quiet.

Onyx, you will be missed our Little Night Fury.

Bugs, sorry to hear that. When they go, it leaves such a hole in your heart. It's amazing how the little guys just become such a part of your life. My condolences.

Dang, I hate this for you. Onyx was lucky to have you and you were lucky to have Onyx.

RIP, Onyx.

Very sorry to hear the bad news. I got a cat from the Cat Protection Society many years ago. She was supposed to have all her shots, etc. After a year & a half, one day I noticed she was drooling & took her to the vet. He treated her for an infection. A couple of months later, she got a big knot under her chin. The vet checked her for feline leukemia and it came back positive. Not long after I had to have her put to sleep. Did the vet say anything about the possibility of her having feline Leukemia?
