Ugh, one of the local feral strays is currently dying in my backyard. He's a mess, looks like system failure. He's an unfixed, ornery, mange-y, mean, "mark everything" jerk of a stray who has attacked our yard cat, but that doesn't mean I want him to die. He found enough energy to drag himself just inside our fence into the shade, and hasn't moved for hours, barely breathing. Bastard. I hope he goes comfortable and quietly in the night, and I hope that none of the other cats or possums bother him before then...

Kitty had a bad breathing problem for a while: Sneezing snot boogers wheezing and everything.
It went away for a while but came back recently. Then a second trip to the vet. First time she thought it was un-treatable viral lung infection but gave me 4mg Cyproheptadine tablet to cut in half per day. Not good. I got about five of them in him, but soon after he'd puke white foam and stopped eating all his wet food after I tried to sneak some into it. Second round she gave me pink Azithromycin gel with a syringe for squirting 2mg per day in his mouth. It couldn't be the viral thing because he gained half a pound. That med did the trick. He completely cleared up on the second day and is walking up the stairs normally now. (I'm not sure why it's banana-cherry flavored though.) |
4 female Thailand Suphalak kittens/cats all snuggled up for an afternoon nap (one male not pictured). They all have been fixed and need new homes. PM or visit thaicathouse.com

"I'm still hungry! I just ate plain ham but only have pieces of bacon, milk, water, dry food, and two kinds of wet food left."

Said goodbye to one of my shop cats "Scruffy" today. She just showed up out of nowhere 10 years ago; she would slink around and we'd leave food out for her, and eventually she let us handle her. She only went AWOL one time: we went on vacation for a week and when we got back she wasn't around. I went looking for her the next day, and found her several houses down, sitting on the sidewalk. I called to her, and she came running home - she hadn't left the yard since. She loved people food, and when we ate outside, she would steal off your plate or right out of your hands if you were not paying attention.
She developed a thyroid condition and kidney issues, so she ate 10 times a day but was still continuously hungry, thirsty and still losing weight. I was medicating her for the thyroid issue twice a day, but I was only really buying time. The last two days it got worse, where she could only manage to eat a little but was still crying that she was hungry. Today she kept trying to get into the house - which she was normally deathly afraid of. She liked hanging out in the shop while I worked on stuff, and the noise didn't seem to bother her in the least. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592178265.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592178265.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592178265.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592178441.jpg |
Bless you for taking care of Scruffy all these years.
