Worth every penny?
Very first Shelby Cobra sells for $13.75 million, a new record for an American car - Autoblog

Let me guess, this was in Monterey. (Didn't open the link).
It's more a testament to the incredible wealth being created at the very top of the one percent and the finite number of super collector cars, trophy real estate, valuable art, etc. for which a Chinise guy can launder...err...invest some $$$.

Or it is a devaluation of the dollar, i.e., a new kind of inflation. An inflationary pressure exerted disproportionately on the higher end. Which is something I don't have to worry about--for now. That is, until this inflation hits the consumer class.

So now that Shelby is dead the estate is going to sell cars off? I'm surprised it didn't pull more. One of the most iconic cars, if not the most iconic car in American automobile history.

Did a little quick math and if a person had a billion dollars and bought that car, it would have the same impact on their bottom line as me buying a pizza!

IMO it's more a testament to the some of us being envious that someone else has that kind of money to spend. Who cares why? Good for them.

Spend $100k on a vacation? Free. When you can't really touch your balance and don't have to think about it, it's all free. I know people w credit cards that just always work. They've likely never seen a bill. ![]()

Shelby only owned this one Cobra, no others. But that's crazy money. Did you see the 65 Shelby mustang go for $575,000.00. Thats is just stupid.

That's nutty, but it's hard to beat that provenance.

Great car and history but is it worth $13,750,000.00?
It must be because someone paid that for it. ![]()
