Never occurred to me that the Viper and Miata have anything in common (other than two seats and four tires).
Miata has an iron block from Mazda trucks. |

At least there's no chance of the IMS going on this one...
What happened to the 996? Was looking forward to hearing the Conversion went well. |

It started out as a 1.3L in a Ford Festiva, then eventually got stretched to 1.6L in the 323 and GTX. The first gen miata 1.6L is based on the FWD turbo motor with a different head for the n/a application and some slight changes for the RWD / longitudinal setup. The 1.8L is a stretched version of the 1.6L. Maybe you're talking about the 2.0L from the NC.

Are the power slides more controllable, like when showing off to crowds?

The vipers motor is all aluminum , block and heads. You can call it a truck motor if you want, but it is a beautiful piece of machinery.

*laughs* I've only had the car for a day so far and multiple people have wanted to race and going to get dinner tonight two guys in a sentra at a stop light begged me to do a burnout. It's a viper not a mustang should be able to avoid the crowds fingers crossed. Also aluminum block not iron block.
As for the 911 I mean the conversion worked well enough it worked as a car totally drivable and to be honest getting it smog legal is doable it's just I'm not the greatest at wrenching and don't have a lot of space so it was just at that level where I couldn't decide and just started looking for vipers. Specifically this is what needs to be done which would require at least one more engine drop to swap the wiring harness. The referee to his credit was a great guy and did all he could to help but it was beyond his jurisdiction and he had to go to the regional manager who had to talk to CARB in Sacremento. This was the email I got from him. for your 2002 Porsche 911 with 2011 Chevrolet Camaro LS3 engine change see below for items needed to pass 1 factory ECU 2011 6.2 Camaro one can only alter the security chip for no start theft situation's 1 factory wiring harness and OBDII connector in correct location in the vehicle where factory Porsche connector is. 1 factory air cleaner box assembly or legal aftermarket with Ca. Executive order #'s transmission manual on Camaro has a Clutch switch + Trans temp Sensor + Speed sensor OEM Charcoal canister and OEM fuel pump assembly that also has the PSI Sensor and Level indicator for the evap. monitor

Yeah, you definitely gotta get that bra off. That thing wants to blast down the road, not caring if it hits bugs, pebbles, birds, other critters, or mufflers falling out from beneath old pickups.
It is alive and it wants to live and run free in the wind. It doesn't care if the paint on its nose is chipped up a bit or if it gets dirty or smelly or scares people by making a lot of noise. Submit to its will and enjoy the ride, but don't try to pamper it with soap and water or it will die. Sideswipe one of those silly ricerfartmobiles once in awhile, too.

I have driven quite a few of those and even a few supercharged ones. The seat of the pants feel under hard acceleration is awesome !

Competed against a Viper in a sprint in the late '90s. The Croft circuit is very wide with a good surface but that Viper thing was all over the road on an admittedly cold almost icy day. None of the other cars were worried by track adhesion.

The tires on it now fronts are Nitto N555 and the rears which are to be replaced soon are NT05r's so it really hooks up. Though as a car i'd like to drive regularly a utqg of... not joking 00 isn't going to cut it. Will sacrifice a little bit of that off the line traction for either pilot super sports or Nitto Invos I think although the Toyo proxes r888 are an attractive option as well. Ahh man I do like the genV but I think the gen2 just has the best lines it really only shows it's age in the front fascia and headlights I think.

I had all but decided to buy a 2006...Until I sat in it. I sat in it in the dealer's showroom and the lowered roof made it feel like a coffin. I felt I had very limited visibility, and since I wanted to use it as a part time daily driver, I didn't think I could live with that. Maybe it would be something you get used to, though, but right there I decided a second generation or convertible would have to be the one I would purchase.

Glad to hear it. That is a sweet looking car. The bra really detracts from its looks.
Congratulations!!

If you track it - get yourself some high top racing shoes - the transmission tunnel gets uber hot and will cook your feet and ankles - great cars though - definitely in the analog world
Truck engine in a sports car - that's how Triumph started - lambo was making tractors first
