New experience for me!
Had a heart attack last Thursday morning, about 7 am. Got to ride in an ambulance
2 1/2 hrs to hospital in Saint John, NB., where they put a stent in a full blockage during a 10-15 min procedure. Everything feels fine now, although I have to be careful what I do for awhile. Quite an experience to say the least! I always wondered if I would know for sure if and when an attack would strike. I now know what it feels like and there was no question what was happening. Felt like someone parked a bus on my chest! Right arm aching, clamy and sweaty all over. Met a lot of nice, kind and caring people during this and I thank them all. Right side of the sod, and get to live another day! |

Wow. Sound like very efficiently handled. Happy to hear you are all well again. Must have been a mindblowingly frightening experience.

I'm glad to hear everything turned out well. So you had a 2 1/2 hr ride?!? You must live out way out in the mountains or boonies. Stay well!

Wow! Not what I expected to read when I opened this thread!
That's great that the whole thing worked out OK! Looks like someone isn't gonna have to lift a finger for the whole 2015 holiday season! |

Glad you are doing well. If you don't mind, how old are you?

Sounds terrifying. That 2 1/2 hour ride must have seemed like forever. Glad you're OK and in good spirits!

You sound like you have a good attitude. A school friend of mine on the wet coast had a heart attack three years ago. He is now 69 like me and doing fine. You sound like you got great treatment. If you listen to your doc he will likely give you advice and you should be around for many more years.
Cheers, Guy |

Glad to hear all turned out well.
We have bad heart problems on my dad's side. He died of his 9th heart attack at 43 back in 1972. I'm 48 now so I try to take good care of myself but I still have to fight the demons my dad had. I cut back my cardiologist visits from twice a year to once a year this year and then a week later my 56 yo brother had his first heart attack so I'm going back to twice a year. My brother said it was 6 minutes from entering the hospital to having a stent in. The doc said that is the big difference between our father's problems and ours: the fact that the stent is in before serious heart damage is done.

Now this IS a Merry Christmas for you!!!
Did you watch your heart pumping as they ran the wire up into it? Or did they knock you out? Mine were too plugged...had a quad done back in '11. . Good luck and stay well. ![]()

Wow, glad to hear you are doing well. Pretty scary experience for sure. I had pulmonary emboli and the symptoms were the same as yours. I have PTS from that experience. Know your dying ain't fun.
GOD bless.

Dennis,
All the way to Saint John? I would have thought Moncton or C'town would have been able to do it. Important thing is they got your opened up and ready to go again. Best Christmas gift ever! If you forgot to buy for someone, you can tell them it was supposed to get done last week! Merry Christmas and take care of yourself. Best Les
