U guys ever get scared of dying ?

You all know I lost my daughter 2 years ago, then this past May, one of my really good friends, Ken, whose life I have always thought was somewhat parallel to mine passed of lung cancer. I was at an auction two weekends ago of a kid I sat next to in school my whole life, who just dropped dead from a heart attack .
I never worried about it before , ever, now, I go to this dark place where I cannot stop thinking about all the what if's .
I think the reality of life , and getting older has just finally hit me
Any of you guys go through this ? I am 46. Should not be thinking about all this stuff just yet should I ?

Nope, you are a child :D Eat healthy, think healthy, and hope for the best.

Death is inevitable. Once you come to that realization, you will learn that you must enjoy each and every moment that you have left.

I'm 57.

I've never worried about until this past May, when I lost my best friend of 40 years to cancer. It really hit home and has me thinking of him and myself.

I just renewed my insurance policy for the wife, so she'll be ok.

I'm 56 and until last week I would have said "NEVER!" This week I developed some symptoms that look very much like colon cancer. I saw the gastroenterologist today at 1:00 who immediately scheduled a colonoscopy. On the way home I was overwhelmed with anxiety and worry about death.

...Got home and took and Xanax and drank a scotch. All better! It's probably the sh**ty pizza I at Chicago O'Hare last week.

I just follow the "Keith Richards Regimen". No problems so far, seems to be working for him.

As Paul said, Death is inevitable.
So I am not scared of it. I just want to live till about 90.
However, I want to be the best 90 yr. old I can be.
So as Bill said I am trying to do all the healthy stuff.
We can't do anything about randomness.
And health is the number one wealth.

46?! No, you're too young for those thoughts.

I watched "Bridge of Spies" the other evening.

The running line throughout was the Russian spy asking "Would that help" every time the Tom Hanks character asks him why he's not worried.

Fred, would it help?

I was afraid of death up through my mid 40's. I am 52 now.
As each day passes, I seem to come to terms with it more.
It is coming to a point where I would rather reunite with more of the people that have passed from my life than those that are still in it.
Still, I'm not ready to go anywhere.

Not particularly scared of it per se. I am afraid of dying before I can fulfill my role as Dad and provide my wife with a worry-free retirement. When I turned 50, I did become a lot more aware of my own mortality. I try to compensate by living in such a way that others might say, "He had full, rich life." Both my grandfather and my Dad died at 77. Odds are I have 25 summers left. Gonna make the most of em.

I keep thinking I want to see my dead homies and family. Had dreams about it.

If it happens, it happens.

Can't help but give it some thought, when it closes in all around you.

Coming to some sort of comfort with the reality of death is a worthy challenge.

I've been at it for a while and at 67 am still endeavoring to find that comfort.
But try not to dwell on it.

Cheers Richard

Not afraid of the inevitable. We have good insurance so my family will not be burdened by my leaving.

I'll be 50 next year, btw.

ledhedsymbols 09-07-2016 04:49 PM

I do... I've always had vivid dreams about it. I mentioned a recurring dream here that I haven't had in years. It was spooky and violent...

These days I worry about my blood pressure, diet, and "natural" causes.

Sorry about your daughter….. I did not know. It has to weigh on you and probably is impacting your thoughts…...

Buy life Insurance and live your life without fear you have faced the toughest that could be asked…… and go to the doc regularly.
