I've driven rotaries, mainly FCs...I don't care for magic spinny triangles and they sound horrible modified. Shame, because the FD is soooo beautiful.

The only way I'll buy one is with a V8. I know it's heresy to the rotary heads, but it's not like a 911 or anything.

I'd love to own a Wankel engine just for s&g's. It is such a neat invention, decades (almost a century) after Otto / 4 stroke concept. It is on my car list.

The RX-8, it is no bueno?

The first gen is nice, but it'd be shared with a teen down the road, so probably too old in terms of safety.

To each their own. It's smoother than any other engine on earth, and mine just has a nice turbo whistle to it. I agree with a full race exhaust they sound like ass, but so do many 4 and 6 cylinders.

RX8 is a damn good car, it got a bad rep through equal parts bad design and owner ignorance. The 2nd gen RX8 fixed the deficiencies and they are pretty reliable. Fantastic steering, smooth engine, telepathic steering, excellent ride/handling balance. Also very practical with a big trunk and rear suicide doors. I had a 2005 and loved everything but the lack of low end torque, like an S2000 you have to rev it.

Does the auction have a reserve? Where do you predict it will end?

Yes, and that's a great question.

Another sweet car in its day was the 2nd generation MX6. Occasionally I watch for a pristine dark green LS V6, but everything I come across is spanked out. Always loved the FD, too. Especially in dark green...

Check Out This Car: 1995 Mazda MX-6

The best engine swap I've ever seen is a 13B Turbo in a Corvette, actually makes the car worth driving.

Good luck on the BaT auction.

Lots of really cool Japanese stuff from that era. I always loved the FD, but am also a fan of the first Sentra SE-R, Prelude Si, Prelude SH, 200SX (1987 was my first car), 240SX (1993 was my second car), CRX, Celica Alltrac, 323 GTX, Galant VR4, Integra GSR and Type R, Z32 300ZX TT, 1st gen Q45, and probably some others that I am forgetting. If I had the space and spare cash I would be stocking up on mint Japanese cars from the '80s and '90s, they are cheap now but on the verge of being collectible. As a teen in the '90s, most of the stuff that turned my eye was from Japan.

oof. Just saw reserve not met. Bummer man. :(. Any messages after the sale?
My boss hit it at 12k, I told him he was dreaming lol

I've found that BaT cracks down HARD on any attempt to send email addresses. Which is pretty crappy considering the $250 listing fee. I attempted to post mine in the comments post auction and they essentially disabled the account.

speeder 09-22-2016 05:53 AM

Yep, it's "sell it here or start over"...hit the bricks, pal. That's their model.

You could always throw it on eBay. Free unless it sells and all the same people will see it, (and be able to bid), that were on BAT. Plus messages afterwards. Not sure why you didn't do that in the first place, BAT is a tough crowd and they're allowed to chime in and critique the car.

Between the two venues, you will have reached nearly every person in the world who wants that model car, (with forum cross posting). Take the highest offer or keep it.

That sucks! Try it on ebay then.

onewhippedpuppy 09-22-2016 08:31 AM

Yup, I'll be trying EBay next. Though it's not free unless you are a newbie, it's more like $50 and I have frequently had to advertise a car 4-5x before finding a buyer. BaT was just for the hell of it to see what happens, and I actually enjoyed most of the conversation.

Really? Interesting, because in the past as a registered bidder I have exchanged phone numbers with sellers.

Really surprised the car didn't meet reserve. What the heck was the one guy talking about that the "color didn't look right"?
Looks pretty good to me.

Maybe I should have tried my phone number. I posted a final comment thanking everyone and dropping my email address for interested parties. It went live for maybe 30 seconds, was deleted, and I wasn't able to post again.
