Another possible option, have him see if he can get the 6 running decently, then that can be sold to fund the purchase of more parts. It doesn't sound like it would be a good candidate for turbo or supercharging if the intake leaking is such a problem.

I agree, he's not getting into legal trouble or getting anyone pregnant, so let him at it.

Center arrow shows coolant migration to the seal for the air intake but does not look like ingress. Right hand arrow shows gasket failure. Wire brush clean up? RTV sealant is not a crime.

Check all these ports both sides.

If the like year(s) Mustangs have some of the same problems as the 6 cyl Windstar, gasket companies have improved the seals.

It is not the metal or plastic, it's the gasket square port sealing material that failed.

Look for blue color.

For the Mustang? I know they make it for the 6 cyl Windstar. Just no experience with the Mustang.
