Motorcycle Taxis - Would you?

I know there are lots of riders on here based on all of the threads, sooo out of curiosity I have a question.

Was in Paris for meetings on Monday and after the last meeting one of the guys had to catch a train. With traffic being what it was, he had reserved a motorcycle taxi. The driver strapped his suitcase to the back of his Goldwing, gave my coworker a helmet and riding jacket with armor and they were off. Presumably because bikes can split traffic and he would make it quicker.

Would anyone here get on the back of a bike like that?

Bill

I used the electric scooter taxis in China.

After that anything is boring.

Only if the bad guys were chasing me and that was the only option to stay alive, like in the Jason Borne movies or Mission Impossible. So far I have avoided those situations.

Not sure about the jacket and helmet. I would have to bring my own.

I did it in Chongqing, PRC around 2006. It was nuts. But I could not get a taxi cab to pick me up. I was at the train station and there were lots of cabs there. I guess they all figured I could't speak any Chinese and would be more hassle than it was worth. I got so fed up, I flagged down a moped taxi and he was totally cool with taking me to my hotel a few miles away. Chongqing is very hilly, more so than San Francisco. You'll see no bicycles there. The ride was quite a thrill. No helmet, of course. I was wearing shorts and t-shirt. Ended up costing me more than what a cab ride would have, but I enjoyed it.

I've ridden in many auto-rickshaws in India. A Goldwing in Paris is child's play.

I have some pictures of me somewhere in an auto-rickshaw in Hyderabad, India. It was humorous and my Indian Employee thought it was funny as hell. India is controlled chaos though, you very rarely see an accident. The riders in Paris where weaving in and out of traffic like mad men.

From my youth in the Phillipines:

And my Navy experience:

I'm not saying it's the BEST choice, but it can be an interesting choice!
