I ordered Grace Young's "Breath of A Wok" and "Stir Frying To The Sky's Edge" on Amazon, should be here today. She has a good video on seasoning a wok with scallions and ginger.

Yesterday I found the CANDY STORE of all international food grocery stores....I have been driving past the place for years with out stopping.
It is the size of a warehouse with whole aisles devoted to one countries or regions cuisine. I could spend all day just looking. It is a hybrid restruant grocery supply house. I found the Wok burner to buy there for $93, it puts out 90k btu. |
What's the name of it? I have a buddy in Henderson who loves to cook, I can give him a heads up.

It is just off the corner of Trop and Decatur...on Decatur on the east side of street. I could spend all day in there just looking... |

Hi Shaun,
I have asked the EMS agent to check and found this package is still on the way. The shortage of EMS is that it has no good tracking system but I never lost package before. Kindly wait patiently. Thanks and best regards, Aaron |
We are through Customs in NYC...

Scheduled for delivery today.

Let the seasoning begin!

Being mild carbon steel, there is a little flash on them. Put them in my motor room that has a dehumidifier.

My pleasure but we owe it all to tabs for posting about these. Thanks Ted!SmileWavy |
Thank you Shaun. But without your help, this would not have gotten done.
|
I just finished rubbing peanut oil all over these. Looking at them with fresh eyes, wanted to keep rust to a minimum.
|
The one from WS had WD 40 on it? So these were dry? I have been using one of my carbon spun steel woks lately. With a low heat gas burner I can only make small batches of goodness.
Also found a Chinese clay pot for $7 at a Thrift...to experiment with. |
These were very dry Ted. I foresee some green scrub pads and a little elbow grease in your future. :) But these will clean up nicely, it's just flash. I may try some hydrochloric acid in a wipe on wipe off scenario.
I have to find boxes for these, will look into that tomorrow. |

Hey Shaun what is the up date on shipping to us?
|
Yours I have all set, I'm repurposing an air conditioner box. Others I have to go to UHaul to get boxes. Been busier than expected I'm sorry to say. I should have them all shipped tomorrow though, Friday latest.
|
Woks are packed and ready to go but I can't find addresses. Email me your home address ASAP. Shaun@tru-6.com

Second left after the right turn at the Suds and Brew.

paid

Got it Ted, thanks. Going out tomorrow is Ted's, Richard's, Craig's and waiting to hear from Don on his address. Peter, yours is on the way, not sure if you got my emails, one bounced back. Total was shipping that UPS gave me + $4 for the box and peanuts and foam sheet. UPS clearly dimmed these by size, not weight, even yours Ted.
|
I had figured my cost per WOK would be about $65..or $260 plus or minus a couple of bucks
Actual cost is 233 + 44 = $277 or just over $69 Which beats 170 at WS. and think of the adventure of it, we got a deal done that is out of the ordinary...we put it into motion and we accomplished it. and we know we have the real deal...right from Shanghai. |
Thanks to Tabs and a big thanks to Shaun for making this happen. Gentlemen, start your engines!

Quick note: a pair nitrile gloves are in a packing list envelope on the outside, forgot to put them in. Will be nice to have to handle these while de-flashing. Only have size large, hope your meat hooks can fit in them Ted. :)
