Oh no, a call from the IRS
Yes, this morning Officer Brown of the IRS called to tell me I was the subject concerning fraud, I had committed fraud in my returns. Of course it was a recording so I would have to call their number NOW.
Since my wife sent IRS a check for $130k after we did our taxes a year ago I have a hard time believing I have defrauded anyone but I guess I should send them more money. |
Ignore it. It is a scam. The IRS does not make phone calls to notify taxpayers of an unpaid liability.

I know, that's why the green

Just making sure :D. These calls are becoming more and more prevalent, and some people must be sending money. Otherwise, the calls would stop.

We got one of those calls and I was bored at the time. I called back and they kept hanging up. They finally answered and kept asking what phone number received the call from them. I told them I had no idea, I have a bunch of google phone numbers and burner cell phones, but I wanted to be sure to get it straightened out. They then asked what business I was in and I told them I ran whores, drugs and rolling poker games. Everything was illegal and a cash business but I knew Al Capone only went to prison for tax issues and I did not want to go to prison, I had too many 16 year old whores that need my pimping ability, and the contract killers were keeping the cops off my case.
They said they would make a note to not call me anymore. Dang it. ;) |
That explains why I'm having such a bad tax year
|
I called them back, told them I would have the FBI get in touch with them, then filed a complaint.
|
Call them and ask "if blood stain removal was tax deductable; oh and BTW, where is your office located?"

Obviously a ploy to get the weak minded, elderly, and uninformed scared into sending them a cashier's cheque.
|
It's not a scam, but I can help! If you send me the 130k balance I will negotiate a settlement with the IRS for you.

I had the BS call from some guy claiming he was a county sheriff's deputy I had missed a jury duty call and they had a warrant for my arrest. He wanted me to go to Walgreen's and get a $200 gift card and read him the number. REALLY!
I told him to bring a full swat team and a the heavy armor, I had a Ma Duce pointed at the entrance and I was ready. They never did show up. |

A parent I do volunteer work with told me her Dad got a call like this and was ready to send the money. He called her while we were working and I overheard part of the call. As she was on the phone I was frantically waving my hands and shaking my head that he shouldn't do it. After she ended the call I told her they need to contact the local police office.
At least it's not creepy clowns calling you. or maybe it is.....oooohhhhweeeeoooooohhhh |

Technically, NPA/NXX 347/434 is New York, NY but that 1000 block is registered to a company in FL that doles out numbers so that they can be used in spoofing CNAM as local calls. Does this fit the bill?: "Got a voicemail today from this phone "Susan Allen" stating she's calling from IRS Investigation Dept and this is notification that an arrest warrant has been issued & that my physical address is not under federal investigation. I called back and spoke with "Mark Taylor" who answered IRS Investigation Department he pulled up the number that I called from (my cell #) and stated that the representative who had called me before was with another person. He proceeded to explain that there are been two letters from IRS sent to my OLD mailing address in July 2016 and Aug 2016 stating I had my taxes audited and there were "multiple errors" found for "multiple years" he wasn't able to give me the specific years but stated it had been filed with my local courthouse and police department and I could be arrested within the next hour! He provided me with a case # and then forwarded me to his DIVISION HEAD by the name of Ray Breslin" ID Badge # 8414061. Again, claimed letters had been sent for notification of this debt. I told them they had old mailing address for me on file and he asked if I had filed IRS Form D7. They all have the heaviest accent too... perhaps Indian, but I'm not sure. I told them the IRS has my current information (i.e. Correct last name and current mailing address). The IRS also doesn't call, they mail you information and wouldn't bother calling with "last notification" procedures. I was not worried about being arrested. But what a total waste of time and frustration to understand them in the first place. Called back that phone number again and it goes right to voicemail stating "thank you for calling Internal Revenue Service." Same guy with heavy accents. So annoying." Same reported from several different TN's in this group. There is no way to stop this anymore. |

It will not stop until laws are changed. That will not happen because the telemarketers have a strong lobby and congress in their pocket.

Back in the olden days before electricity, I used to get calls from people ordering pizzas pies on account of our numbers being somewhat close.
I usually just took their orders and told them their pies will be ready in an hour at half price with free delivery. |
I told them I was an IRS special agent, and I would take care of the bill when I got to the office.
|
Got similar call from Mr Packi... who can not even pronounced Canadian Revenue Agency correctly :rolleyes::rolleyes:
So I told him that my Paypal account was dormant so he should send me the refund via Western Union :D:):D |

Multiple offenses. Overwhelming. But if Silk Road had only used dial-up instead...it would all be ok... |
You will always be notified by mail first.

that said if you get a letter saying your taxes were already filed and they suspect fraud, after your E-filing failed, it IS the IRS and someone filed for you trying to steal a refund ! 1 Million folks a year ! Ask me how I know... I got a nice special pin now... and a locked down credit rating !

Got that call just last night SmileWavy

I've gotten that phone call too. Too bad it's a recorded message, because it's so much fun to mess with a live person. When I got a call from "Geek Support" last year, I got the guy to spend 20 minutes describing what the Windows logo looks like. I eventually gave him the IP address to fbi.gov when he wanted to remotely connect to my machine.

We get 4 or 5 calls every single day at work from some BS claiming to be with Google Business listings. If I try to talk to them at all it disconnects. I have never gotten far enough into it to find out why they keep calling. If it was really Google, they already know everything about our business, why do we need to update anything? I can't even figure out the angle and how anyone is making money just calling us over and over. |
