Depends upon the antenna. The super cheap $10-30 indoor antennas, yeah, you might not get many or any channels, although BR is pretty darn flat. My mom (in FL) gets a handful of channels, but not the 60+ that I get. She's using one of the indoor antennas that looks like a sheet of paper with a small amplifier that runs about $20-30. the channel that she gets really well is 65 miles from her house.

But you can spend more for an outdoor DTV antenna, and those will pick up much more. It would depend upon your environment, etc.... If you put an outdoor antenna on a pole on top of your house, you'll still probably get quite a few channels, and many will be HD or at least very clear.

The only thing that I miss by only having a DTV antenna for the regular broadcast stations is the DVR capability.

Grab a TV tuner card, Five Best TV Tuner Cards

Take a spare PC and drop NextPVR on it. http://www.nextpvr.com/

Trust me, you'll love it.

I have a cable card in my rig and can stream live or recorded TV to any device anywhere in the house.

It's how I watch most of my Sunday football without driving the wife nuts.

Yes but can you watch the walking dead live? Seriously. I am paying $200 month for cable (direct TV with DSL....no cable option for me) just for that show. If I cut that feed the girls in my home will kill me.

AMC has a streaming option. It's how I watch Walking Dead.

Log in with your cable provider info. Can't remember if AMC is one that requires it to be in your package or just have an account. I'll check in tomorrow.

If not you can get it in a Sling package for $20 per month.

Also on PlayStation VUE for $40.00, more channels than the sling $20 option.

Of course if you "cut the cord" and don't have a login.....

Walking Dead is, I believe on Netflix, but certainly not live, probably a season behind.

If you've got the extra $200 to spend, then keep spending it. If not, then I assume the girls would learn to live without.
