Stupid Chevy Commercials

Does anyone else find these commercials painfully insulting to their intelligence? Dimwit host, stupid premise, supposedly "real people not actors" that can magically text emojis that don't exist to a big screen tv. Riiiiiight. Remove the Chevy badge from a Malibu - "is that a Lexus"? No dumbazz, it's a rental car. Three men choose a circular saw over a hand saw to cut lumber, somehow that ties to the Silverado being the "right tool"? At no point do they spend any time talking about features, price, superiority to the competition, quality, i.e. the stuff that really sells cars. Nope, just a bunch of ignorant actors spewing stupidity. Sold!!!

onewhippedpuppy........ totally agree with you. If there weren't car rental agencies Chevy'd be out of business.

When those commercials come on, I can't mute fast enough.

I hate the Nissan commercial that shows how the car will alert you when you're backing up if an obstacle is behind you; or the car will alert you if there's a car in your blind spot.

In other words, these cars are for complete idiots that don't know how to drive.

Yes, way worse than the Chevy ads.

The saw commercial is one of those where I think... okay, a bunch of suits somewhere saw a storyboard of this and then signed off on it. Seriously???

It just doesn't make sense. Seems like the corresponding transportation analogy would be pickup truck vs pack mule.

Thank-you for this. I mute the sound or switch channels when one comes on.

But I do disagree that the McConaughey Lincoln commercials are worse than the Chevy's. I at least get a good laugh out of the Lincoln bits. The Chevy stuff is an insult.

These commercials are not targeted for people like us or anyone who know cars. They target the hipster or people of similar age who think just like that.

Agree about the target group. Has anybody heard any commercials by GM, or Dodge about how strong their steel trucks are after the safety ratings came out giving the aluminum Ford the highest safety rating among trucks????

why is a router that connects to your phone a big selling point for a car?

As someone who rents cars quite a bit, I can tell you that Chevys are a hell of a lot nicer than Nissans or cheap Hyundais. That is all.

People are too stupid to realize that nearly every smartphone can operate as a hotspot? Or also too stupid to realize that Chevy charges a subscription fee for said service?

I can't remember the last time a commercial motivated me to go buy the product.

I find it funny they try to sell cars by showing them being driven badly in ways which should produce jail time for the driver.

Not as bad as the Liberty Mutual commercials in front of the Statue of Liberty. Those cause a scramble for the remote to change channels. Not sure what demographic is that freakin' stupid.

Or those that are not sure of the differences between a circular saw and a hand saw.

I guess a Hummer H1 would be a chain saw?

that circular saw commercial is pretty awful.

but having seen first hand the 'quality' that goes into a modern Hyundai (mother bought a santa fe) I would have to agree with speeder. cheby has it all over the Hyundai and Nissan (full disclosure I have yet, in my 43 years, to think of Nissan as anything other than gimmicky trash). the santa fe is a nice looking car on the outside and in pictures the interior looks nice...but when you actually sit inside the car the appeal disappears very quickly.

I think the current Malibu and impala are flat out beautiful cars both inside and out.
