How best to sell wine?

I have a couple bottles of 1998 Dom Perignon that I'm never going to drink. I thought I'd throw them on Ebay but it appears that Ebay only permits licensed wine dealers to sell there.

I don't really want to sell these to a broker, or go to too much trouble to sell them, as I am not going to be doing this again. Craigslist in Tulsa doesn't seem like the right venue...

Any ideas?

What is your price for both?

I might be interested, and I have a friend who enjoys his higher-end champagnes. he might be in play too.

I've probably had them 10 years, give or take. They've been stored on their side, not that that matters as much with champagne, in a wine storage fridge. They seem to sell for $150/bottle on Ebay. There's a wine seller in California that seems to sell a bottle a week.

One of them is in the presentation box, the other is not.

I was surprised when i looked at Ebay; people are actually buying the empty bottles and boxes. WTF does a person buy an empty champagne bottle?

Do you know if they'll bother with just two bottles of something? Ever used them for small quantities like this?

I've never sold or bought from them, I didn't know they had a minimum to sell. Maybe PM KevinTodd, he owns a few restaurants and a wine shop in Atlanta. He might be of some help.

I gave them a call and left them a message, so maybe they'll get back to me. Most of the info on their web site seems directed at buying, not selling.

I'll buy them for $300 ($150 ea) as long as they're not the rose. Do you have a good way to ship them safely?

I'm pretty good at shipping things but you are in the driver's seat, so I'll ship them however you want.

Speaking as a licensed winery, depending on the shipping location you use, consumers typically can't ship wine by common carrier. Most places have caught on when you say, "vinegar" or "apple juice" wink wink on the contents. You can typically buy shippers at a decent wine store.

Best is to put a shipper box in a larger box, then be creative with specifying contents.
