Fontana, Ca

I just got done readin some of Jack Olsens comments on one of those other Porsche Boards.... Anyway he describes what he wants outa his Porsche and his objectives and rules when trying to accomplish his mission. He talks about racing in there and about putting a roll cage in, cause he still wants to live and breath.

That got me to thinking about what other people I had met over the years had said about the thrill or high they got from doing something........

A lot of miles back I used to go to a couple of gun stores out in Fontana. One day I stopped in and this guy was talkin about neutral zones and not taking a job because it didn't have a place he could run to if it all went bad.... After listening for a few minutes he offered me a job to "go adventuring." It would pay 10K for a couple of weeks work. Seems he was puttin a crew together..... I thought about if for about a milisecond and politely declined his offer.

Another mile or two later while out there in Fontana I got to talking to a guy who had been "adventuring" He said there was nothing like it..it was the ultimate high... killing or being killed and running like a mad dog from hell....... cause there is no surrender.......

I road-raced m/c's in various classes for years.
Had plenty of "adventures". I've been lucky all my life.

For some folks, a La-Z-Boy is good enough; others want to be in the saddle.

However, in the future, due to the increasing meddling of social engineers, I fear we may not be able to choose where we want to "sit".
We'll be nicely homogenized, and life will be sooo safe.

Nobody can get hurt playing PLAYSTATION 2.

FON-TUCKY.....Home of Kaiser Steel Mill built in 1942... Blue Collar Town, home of Frank Zappa. After the Mill was closed and carted away by the Chinese the demographics changed from White, to African American, to Hispanic and now is becoming a Middle Class bedroom community. The town has always had a hard edge. The reason the Steel mill was built some 60 miles inland and not on the coast where transportation costs would be lower was that the US government wanted it to be safe from Japanese bombing or shelling. Now it's the home of an International Speedway which stands on the old Steel Mill site.

Highland California....Home of one of the most prosperous Indian Casinos in California...San Manuel. Also home of one of the State of Californias NUT HOUSES.......Patton State Hospital. Highland at one time was beautiful before surban sprawl set in. Beautiful Orange Groves...I talked to a man who moved to the Old town area in 1960...there was an irrigation/small stream that ran along the road in front of his house that he said there were trout in. That the Orange trees branchs would touch each other across the road......now there are No Orange trees nor stream.....just asphalt and cars.

Very true, the only orange groves now are in Redlands but I doubt they will last. At least I can enjoy drive home though them for a while longer. Not just asphalt and cars though. Houses, lots and lots of houses. More to come too.

Redlands.......Deadlands

Oh You mean you might wind up dead in Fontana..very true
Also San Bernardino....is not a place I want to be driving around in after dark either......I talk to a San Berdo cop a few miles back and he said if people knew the murder rate in SB they wouldn't leave their houses. When I go over there it reminds me of Detroit.... except it has palm trees.

Did you ever eat at Rosa Maries mexican restruant on Boulder in the Albertson shopping center? Or how about Bobby Raes BBQ out on Baseline near Medical Center Dr in Muscoy (SB). Both great places to eat.

I love Rosie’s! The original is on Sierra Way, north of 40th but I almost always go to the one in Highland. Rosa Maria’s is probably the best of San Bernardino cuisine, whatever that's worth.

San Berdo is pretty scary. I actually go in to the city proper about once a year. The city planers try to come up w/ grand ideas to turn it around, like the lakes & streams project, but don’t want to commit to the money when comes down to it. I think they know it probably wont work. I think they should bulldoze the whole city and start over but no one listens to me.

When I go out in the I.E. I’m usually in Redlands. Sometimes I trek over to Riverside. Grew up in Upland. Blah, Blah.

There are orange groves out here in Woodland Hills. If you take Oakdale south of Ventura Blvd. on your left hand side about 1/2 mile up there's a pretty big orange grove.

Zamirz you mean there is actually one left???? They should make it a shrine or something....of the way it was. Not trying to burn U but it's rare these day.

Yo surflvr.....grew up in Glendora, moved to Upland in 1981.....18th & Benson......when it was still Lemon Groves. In 1990 I moved over here to Alta Loma.....Rancho Cucamonga. I live about equal to 24th st in Upland only across the wash.

I been to Rosies on 40th in the midst of a cold rainy day and they were still lined up.

Holy Hell, I was just north of 17th two blocks east of Mountain.

All that talk of Rosie's made me hungry. Guess what I had last night.

Oh yeah, let me see....behind the counter was a tee-shirt that had this green slimie looking thing driving a Hot Rod from hell.

Now heres a good recipe for PorK Green Chile.....and thats what I made last night since Rosies is a bit far. Taste is close to Rosies maybe better.

1 large Pork Roast...shoulder, butt doesn't matter 5-6 lbs anyway
cut up into 1 inch chunks into a large pot, if theres a bone throw it in to. Get rid of excess fat....

5 Pasillia Chilis, dark Green, seeded amd chopped up coarsely

2 Brown Onions Chopped up

2 large cans 28oz of Diced or Crushed Tomatoes

3 cloves crushed Garlic

2 Tablespoons of Cumin Powder

1 Tablespoon of Oregeno

salt to taste

Let it all Boil until tender on low heat, skim any fat off the top.....serve with rice , beans and tortillia......sour cream and cheese on the side. Ummmm hmmmm good.....
