In July, Cosby acknowledged he obtained drugs to give to women he wanted to have sex with during the 1960s and ‘70s. These drugs included quaaludes, lab-produced pills that act to suppress the central nervous system, which slows heart rate and can make users feel relaxed or sedated. Cosby has been accused of — but hasn’t admitted to — sexual assault and rape.

Yet Cosby acknowledged that he got seven prescriptions from a Los Angeles doctor for quaaludes.

The key important inhibitory messenger that quaaludes act on is GABA, short for gamma-aminobutyric acid.

This action is why quaaludes make us drowsy and slow down our heart rate and breathing. It’s also one of the reasons they’re so dangerous — a quaalude overdose can result in coma or even death. If they’re combined with another sedative like alcohol, they become far more dangerous, and much lower doses of the drug can kill.

Hard to know how much of this was the norm in that world at that time. Doesn't make it right but it ain't mass murder. Just plain tired of the weekly headlines about another celeb who lived life in an artificial world.

Not to PARF this up but Bill Clinton was (still is) supported by N.O.W. and many other feminist organizations. They overlook his bad behavior so as to get political favors in return. I asked my mother and sisters about this back in the '90s and their reply was that the career women in N.O.W. hate a woman like Monica Lewinski more than they hate a man like Bill Clinton.

As for Cosby, now is the time to separate him from his wealth. He is no longer a lucrative star of comedy so in swoop the lawyers, on the eve of the statute of limitations running out, to pick his carcass clean.

I'm not defending him BTW. It's just business. Go in for the kill when he's weak and cannot fend-off the attack. He should know the tactic well.

No, its not that at all.... The charging ada ran for DA against a former DA who initially reviewed the case (Bruce Castor). It was a major issue in the campaign. The current DA (neither of these folks) was elected judge. Today is the end of the workyear for these folks. The chariging ADA was greenlighted to do this, I suspect, as he's now the incoming DA and he was arguing for it all along.

The plaintiff's deserve their money. Any comment about it being acceptable "in their world" misses the mark. It is never, in any world, acceptable to drug someone to the point of incoherence for the purpose of screwing them. Period.

The plaintiffs deserve their day in court. I still believe in the principle of innocent until proven guilty.
I think there is something fishy about not reporting something like this at the time it happened.

I'm curious as to what kind of evidence there is for a sexual assault case. It seems like a "she said, he said" case to me, at least at this point.

Just have to wonder, in today's political climate where blacks are "overly persecuted" and there is such an over abundance of "white privilege", and wherein the front running presidential candidate on the side that is making these accusations has said "all rape victims should be believed", how this is all going to shake out. Will the left's blind hero worship of all things Clinton prevail over one of their most heartfelt and vocalized positions, allowing White Privilege to prevail when their favorite philanderer is involved?

That's a purely rhetorical question, by the way. We all know it will.

It sure looks like he's guilty as sin. But I'm automatically on the side of whomever Gloria Allred is against. And I don't have a lot of sympathy for folks who only come forward when the political correctness winds are at their backs.
