I've always been afraid that I'd loose my sight.
I'm extremely careful about that...eye protection, always.

I know, right. Too busy to obsess and be frightened.

Stupid people are sort of scary though, now that I do think about it.

Poverty. Life is easy when you have the financial means to make it easy.

Never feared death, to me that goes with faith.

My biggest fear is to be thought a failure.
To fail to provide for my family and to not be a good father, to have one of my children not turn out to be a good citizen and productive member of society.
That would scare the you know what out of me but as times goes by, the risk diminishes.

Heights (anything higher than 8 feet)
Dementia (mom and dad have it)
Cancer (lost 5 uncles and 1 grandfather to it)
Outliving my son or daughter

Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?

Rattlers, copperheads, and cottonmouths where I grew up. I remember being home alone one summer day, walking outside to do something, and hearing that rattle just a few feet away. Somehow I stood still until I got a visual on him about 10 feet away, all curled up and warning me.

I don't have any phobias or unnatural fears of any sorts. I certainly respect poisonous snakes or any snake. I am not afraid of them anymore than I am a spider, clowns, enclosed tight spaces, and all the other common phobias.

Back when Haley's comet was visible last time I was big into astronomy as a hobby. I was at a friends place way out in the country in a very dark back yard 500 yards from the house. There were lots of other people there setting up telescopes and he asked the guys to not whizz in the yard, please go up to the house and use the bathroom. His house his rules. He also warned all of us to not walk between two particular trees because they are infested with spiders. Of course I forgot and walked right between the trees and felt spiders webs and a couple of spiders on me. That kinda gave me the willies for a second but I survived with no bites and slept fine that next morning after the sun was up.

So i guess losing my health is my biggest fear. I don't think about it much except in threads like this one.

I don't have to be askeerd of rattlemouths ...they haven't been around here for several decades, but if'n they were around, my list would grow by two...for sure :(.

Having one of my children descend into the hell of Heroin. Or any true substance abuse for that matter, but Heroin by far.

Heights.
More accurately looking down over a ledge, so would that be depths?
I can look up just fine...

Yep. At the end of the day the stuff that actually scares me is the stuff that would hurt those I love. Some of you know im a former professional mountain guide, I stopped mountaineering for almost a decade but picked it up again over the last year. In June I helped evacuate a fellow climber in my party who took a fall in a bad spot resulting in broken ribs and the need for many stitches, it could have easily been fatal if she had hit the rocks differently or if she had lost her ice axe. The entire time we were getting her out of there I was stuck on the thought that this could have been me, that the exact same scenario could have led to my 4 year old having to learn that dad was paralyzed or had died. Back when I was guiding I didnt have a wife or family and this stuff didn't cause the same reactionat all.
