Mexican F1
Looks like a great track, puts a lot of new tracks to shame IMO. This one and COTA
are very nice. Hoping for a good race tomorrow. Being a Ham fan, I hope he can close the gap and maybe have a last race shootout. Although it seemed quite odd that Ham was not at all happy about his quali. His was pi**ed at something. Who knows, always some drama. ![]() Last edited by yellowperil; 10-29-2016 at 03:15 PM.. |

Watched a bit of practice today. I didn't know Massa is leaving after this season. Always thought he got a raw deal when he was at Ferrari.

Reminds me of Monaco without the water or guard rails.
..... but, Monaco follows the natural terrain - always a plus in my book. Bill K

I think the stadium section is a great idea - and having the trophy ceremony there is much like in Italy - great for the crowd. Drivers constantly talk about the energy from the fans. Hoping for a Ham victory and having Ferrari and the Bulls challenge the Mercs so this can come down to the final race!

What did Vettel say on his radio that was so "blue?" I can usually only make out about half of the content of those radio transmissions. I wish they'd just delay the broadcast about 20-30 seconds and run it across the top of the screen in closed captioning.
If it's too nasty, just PM it to me. EDIT: Nevermind, I found it here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-31/lewis-hamilton-wins-dramatic-mexico-grand-prix/7979296

Sounds like Vettel was demoted after the race too. Now Ricciardo is officially listed as third.

Interesting. I would've loved seeing Verstappen concede the postion (of course, his team was telling him to maintain) and then seeing Vettel tear off on a clear track with Ricciardo in pursuit of him (but I doubt if Verstappen would've let him by unless under team orders.
It could/should be a very interesting final two races. A good bit more of Vettel's "blue" rant (the part toward Verstappen) is spoken of (bleeped, of course) here: Mexican Grand Prix 2016: Lewis Hamilton wins ahead of Nico Rosberg to keep title hopes alive

Vettel was right. And why should Whiting care if the four time WC berates him over the radio? Thin skin? Let it be.
Verstappen is an ass. He's a good driver, but he's got the makings of maybe becoming the biggest douche in the history of F1. |

Wow... missed this on first read of that article:
Vettel closed to within striking range on lap 68, and Verstappen took to the grass. The German was incensed he did not hand the place over. Red Bull told Verstappen to move but he refused.

LOL,
Verstappen is an ego-driven punk and Vettel is a whiny little beotch. One of these days someone is going to get tired of Vettel calling them an idiot or moron and they're gonna punch his lights out. Wouldn't be hard, he ain't bigger than a minute. I still can't believe he told Charlie to go **** himself in front of the whole world. Quote:

I am no vettel fan but I think demoting him was quite unfair... He might have moved a bit under braking but he did not close the door Verstappen style... And he would NOT have been in that position at that corner had it not been for Verstappen not conceding the spot, and effectively backing him up into Ricciardo...
Very odd, used to be you ran off like that, you let the guy by, not that 5 sec added to your time BS. They changed the podium (awkward) and then still got it wrong... Same deal with HAM botching the corner, if you take a grass shortcut and come out ahead of the guy right behind you, you should have to concede the position IMO. PS: everybody is all about how ROS cannot lose the WC. All it takes is Verstappen crashing into him and it's game over... It almost happened in Mexico. I kinda hope someone puts Verstappen in a wall HARD - not a serious injury but something that leaves a mark... The kid is very talented but need a lesson... They should have ordered him to give up that position right way, and if he failed to do so promptly they should black flag him. Zero doubt he slowed Vettle down and that allowed Riccardo to catch him and attempt the pass. Verstappen needs a hard slap on the wrist and some real penalties or he will continue to do it until there is a major incident.

Vettel should be made to buy the entire podium each a case of good Champagne for what he spilled down his guts. Also a case for Charlie, also a public apology to Charlie to be aired over his car radio next time he attempts to complain.
All this to be done publicly. Can you imagine telling an old man like C Whiting to F*** Off twice, to millions of people. What a horse's a**. But I kind of like him anyway. |

Hence Vettel's demotion, post-race. Vettel raced Ricciardo hard, but not unfairly. Certainly wasn't worth any sort of penalty. At least as long as you're basing that sort of stuff on driving merit.

I have a bigger problem when these situations are judged post-race. I understand the officials want to watch all the replays and "get the call right." But it's absolutely ridiculous that it happens while the competitors are still competing away. Make the call--right or wrong, to the best of your ability--in a timeframe that is fair to the competitors. With modern technology, that should be within a lap, not 15-30 minutes later.

Vettel shouldn't have had to battle Ricciardo, had Verstappen obeyed the rules. He basically slowed and trapped him, knowing he was relegated anyway. Good teamwork, crappy attitude.
