Watching Judge Judy the other day I noticed she makes sweeping generalizations. She said men are dirty and women are manipulative. I think that British gal in the Caterham video could be capable of manipulating anybody......

For those of us that can't afford the real thing, LEGO has a Caterham kit on the shelves now through their "Ideas" program:

Ugly? The design dates back to 1960, so compare its purity of line to American cars of that era, and then you might revise your thinking Mr Rattlesnake

I like 'em. I think they are much better looking than the Ariel Atom which I think is really ugly.
I guess they remind me of the 60s pre-wing F1 cars, and I think those are cool. I think another factor that makes me like them is that they are about as far from normal car compromise as possible, the driving experience distilled down to its most basic elements. I'd love to have/drive an open wheeled ultra-light vehicle.

Love the car. Love the ad. Even my kids love the Lego model.

Doesn't matter when it was designed, I still think it's ugly. I do understand it is well built and a capable machine though. For what it's worth, there are not many English built cars that I do like. Just not my style.

LOL, a buddy of mine has an Exocet with an LS1 in it. Stupid fast around the track. Not meant to be pretty.
Here's a photo of his:

The Lotus Super 7 back in 60's was held in high esteem in the UK. Okay so it is diminutive but highly functional for the narrow British roads. I could not imagine crossing the USA in one. Conversely the American cars back in the 60's were huge well sprung floaty type of cars with power steering admirably suited for crossing the USA continent.
Perceived as ugly or not the two different types of cars served their purpose well. If you did not live in the 1960's then you missed an interesting transition in automotive history. ![]() |

Understood. It's not aesthetically-beautiful the way a 911 or Cobra are. The first time I saw one I thought it looked a bit...unfinished. But the looks have grown on me. I can appreciate how the form follows function, and the simplicity of it all.
