Getting back into art - car themed of course

The various threads on art, especially the polar bear by Dean / BeyGon got me thinking about starting again. I used to love art, and pretty much gave it up during college and after. I've started back in, was doing sketches and whatnot to get used to drawing and painting again. I'm going to focus on vintage cars for a bit, since there are so many amazing cars. I'm glad I went back, I'm really enjoying it.

First one, a 911 of course

Here's a sketch / line drawing for practice:

And here's the "painting" in mixed media of engine oil, grime, and brake dust:

I'm pretty happy with it. Also it looks better in person than in the photo for some reason, the fuzziness of the strokes and smears looks more blended, the cell camera makes it look sharp.

Next up is an Apline A-110 or an Alfa GTV

Thanks for looking

Nice work and I love that you are not using traditional media. I've gotten back into painting after a 30 year break. Here's one of my efforts.

Water colors I did about 8 or 10 years ago. I got all into it then lost interest. Copied pictures that were in a Porsche brochure.

For the oil etc I use brushes, goes on just like India ink. The dust I rub on with a cloth after getting it dirty
