Are those white lines running through the piece fault lines? Aren't you afraid they might create a fracture if you hit it the wrong way?
How heavy will the finished piece be?
Beautiful work.

No hitting, no chisels, if you hit it you can expect a lot of pieces. Only grinding, files, sanding. The piece probably weighs about twenty five + but the base weighs more. When it's finished they will be epoxied together.

The artwork is getting better and developing. And I've had some time to decipher what the heck I am looking at.

1. Has the leg length of a nursing cub.

2. Has the torso length of an adult.

The ears down is either a submissive stance, or an aggressive hunting/playing stance. I would try for the latter because a cub at play is more approachable than a cub which might be vulnerable.

Cougar - Puma concolor

What you have is an awkward adolescent cougar, in between the mother and cub pictured above. Somewhere in the Bobcat size range.

Some good adolescent Puma/Cougar images here:

yeah, look at that picture again, I was wearing a mask, and glasses. when I do any of that kind of work I do wear a filter.

and thanks to the people with the compliments. it should be finished in a week or so, polished and done.
this old 80lb Polar Bear is the one that is in the Sparks Gallery NSS show starting Saturday. I do hope kachiee shows me pictures of what a real Polar Bear looks like for my next one.

This Polar Bear is about 22" long and Marble, the Orange Calcite Crouching Cougar is about 18" long, the base is 24". I haven't weighed the Cougar yet so I just have guesses .

This Picture is of the other Polar Bear I finished in May, just waiting for kachiee to show me pictures of a real one before I try it again. This one is about 34" long and about 350lbs. The first one shows more movement.
