A few more pictures from our shipping bizz

Haven't seen a ship for decades without a bulbous bow, looks sleek and fast The crew is from Poland, so they said fast, just like Robert Kubica.

Nice big tide.

I have got to get up there. Next to hangers and airplanes I love piers and ships.

I actually got certified as an Officer of the Deck underway and had my own watch section driving the ship I was the Airboss on.

I had no idea what I was doing...thank god an old Warrant Officer took pity on me

What a cool place you have.

Neat pics Y P. I'm trying to figure out how you get the product out of the hold, is there a conveyer belt that the machines are loading?
It's amazing how much container shipping has changed layover time. And dockside cargo handling.

How long does it take to unload those big holds and what is reloaded? Do they leave in ballast to reload elsewhere?

I'm with Seahawks on the interest in shipping and harbor activity. All except for the risk they pose for small boats at sea, cruising on autopilot. Not sure what the watch standers are up to in there.

And just one more question, is your Hot Rod back on the road?

Cheers Richard

You are too old for at least one item on your wish list...

Never hurts to dream though.

Somebody should slather some POR15 on those rust spots.

Does the ship crew stay on board while docked?

I believe you have one of the most unique jobs of the Pelican gang.

Always liked the Dodge A100. Worked at a Dodge dealer summer in college... was their shop truck.

Grabs into our hoppers, then into receivers trucks., This was 4 holds, total Tonnage 13,800, took 5 days. Most ships leave here in ballast (empty). Yes the Hot Rod is back as good as new maybe better

Ships crew are free to roam around and are only restricted by their ship if they have to work, We welcome them to come ashore, town is right at the pier.

Thanks for looking and I enjoy your questions.

Is that thing in the 2nd photo full size? Looks like a little miniature model. Wow!

You need to get into the hookers and blow business, my friend.

California was built on accommodating miners and everyone else.
Not the actual gold itself.

Very nice pictures from the boat.

The machines (lika that crawler) used, are there any different specs to machines plowing through mud? I mean, maybe you dont want oil and grease in the goods?

Full size, and we do a clean up before they enter cargo holds. All good fun.

It does look very interesting, on an industrial scale, that is one big grab.
Is it left open to fill while the gantry goes to another hold to lift out that one?
You must have a line of trucks on the dock.

Thanks for the glimps into your world Y P, cool.

Cheers Richard

Here in the U S it is, and you almost have to be bourn into it, very tight hiring practices.
