agree-

At least the "Hero" knew it was just "the right thing to do" and expected nor wanted anything but his rope back then left at the tip of a hat. Wish there were more people like that in this world. A better place it would be.

Yeah, he's a good man. Exactly the kind I'd like as a neighbor. While I agree the term "hero" is way overused, this guy's far more of a hero than some self-congratulatory football player .. and who's to know the perp didn't have a weapon?

Funny story! So was he planning to take the horse into the store? Is there special "horse parking" or a hitching post?

Just a guy doing what he knows how to do. Not a "hero" per se but a darned good guy and someone I'd gladly buy lunch for.

If only there were more like him in the world. I hope Mr. Bike Thief becomes the laughingstock of the prison population.

I've been to places where the truck stops have hitching posts.

Its possible some wal-marts might as well. If not, use a tree.

"The right thing to do." That is what it is all about. Did not truly understand as a younger man. That comes with life experience. To some.

LOL! I'm actually in N. Carolina! However, where I grew up in FL, we did have a small Mennonite community...an offshoot of the Amish, but they road bicycles/tricycles instead of horses.

Maybe tie it to a bike rack?

I thought in my travels I'd seen it, but its lost in the mush of getting older. Some searches reveal there are indeed Wal-Marts with horse, or horse and buggy accommodations. Some even offering shade/shelter.

Well, the search here is only about 4 blocks.

Sadly and every so often, a motorist will take out an entire family by accidentally plowing into the back of horse-drawn buggy--often at night. All the buggies are flat black and some have no reflective markings.

I was referring specifically to a wal-mart with hitching posts. Are you near such a one?

Well he's not a hero in the sense that he put his own life at risk, but I don't think the use of the term is inappropriate. He roped a guy in a parking lot!

All the Amish/Mennonite wagons have turn signals and triangle reflective signs on their vehicles in Lancaster PA.

Afaik, the local walmart does not have a post but the banks do. I can't recall seeing a buggy at walmart here. Not sure why that is the situation.

Would imagine the law states it is a requirement but saw another unmarked buggy on the highway just last week.
