Talking Tom, Dick, and Harry - "The Great Escape" reference

Current working on a project designing a raised garden area in a client's side yard and am going to recommend we use 3 beds. Similar to pic below - but in different configuration.

For some reason - it popped into me head that we could name the beds Tom, Dick, and Harry in order to keep track which is which.

Like the 3 main tunnels that were dug in Stalag Luft III re: "The Great Escape".

Meeting with my client Friday to submit my proposal and drawings.

The question is...who is "Big X"...me or the owner?

Cool. I like it.

Baz, what's the deal with wood used for edging beds or raised beds. In my experience, it usually, eventually rots away. Is there anything that can be done to radically slow the process, or is it just understood that in the course of things, the wood is going to rot and need to be replaced? (probably except for in the CAN states, Cali, Arizona and New Mex)

Steve - yes wood does eventually rot but if pre-treated with preservatives it can last quite a while. Kiss of death is to let irrigation spray on it so my beds will be away from any overhead irrigation and will utilize drip tubing for irrigation.

Buy pre-treat wood and then coat with a product designed to protect. Thompsons is one but there are many others.

Also using thicker pieces of lumber provides longer life of course.

You could also use the composite "lumber" - a bit more $ but longer life.
