I saw ELP live a couple of times in the 70's ...wow. Greg on acoustic guitar and bass...Carl Palmer was a beast and Keith Emerson, well you can't describe the sounds he got

Damn. What a shame - far too young for this. Such a gifted talent.
I think I have pretty much everything he ever recorded. When I was a kid, ELP was on my short list of "don't miss" acts when they came to Seattle.

Brain Salad Surgery was one of the best albums of the 70's.
I listened to it countless times on LP Very talented group.

First Keith Emerson, now Greg Lake. The man upstairs is assembling one heck of a band. ELP has lived at the top of my rotation for 40 years...and will continue to do so.

I think it was the TV show "The Midnight Special" in the mid-late 1970's in which Greg Lake performed solo. He was the cover of the Detroit Free Press TV Guide for that episode which was unusual, somebody at the paper was obviously a fan.
So many projects/groups he was involved in, all favorites of mine - the common denominator for, ELP, King Crimson and so forth. I think part of the reason we were all able to listen to their songs and LP's over and over again back in the day is because it was analog, vinyl records. Digital playback just doesn't have the same soul.
