So if I get a modem that has at least as many down channels as my provider,

I should have a more reliable result?

Not -necessarily- faster but a better chance of being fast more often, especially at crowded moments?

The answer is fairly complicated.

Depends on a lot of variables but whittled down to a yes or no, the answer is yes.

Certainly won't hurt.
