I slept in the 911 last night.
It wasn't as bad as you would imagine. I slept on the parcel shelf with the passenger seat pushed forward to make legs/knees room.
It sounds a strange thing to do but the night before someone had a pretty good go at breaking into my garage. I don't know what they were after but I didn't want the 911 stolen or vandalized. So the game plan was a stake out and ambush. Unfortunately the person didn't come back for another go ![]() I may setup something electronic and hopefully I can get out of bed, jeans on, and out run them down the street - wish me luck. |

You can buy one of those motion sensing alarms at Home Depot, that is used on construction sites. Ryobi makes one with a remote so you can disarm it before it goes off. Loud as hell.

Motion sensing lights and cameras are pretty cheap these days.

Also, so called "Driveway alerts" have a remote buzzer/chime that will give you time to intercept intruders.

Sleep in universal soccer shorts.
Hide a house key within walking distance, in case you get locked out. |

You must be young or else your body would be in pain.

By the time you managed to extricate yourself from the confines of a 911 rear seat area (after hours of contorted "sleep"), a thief would likely have time to take a leisurely stroll around the garage, take whatever he wants, and be long gone. ![]() Seriously, I'd second/third the motion light idea. They are a great/cheap deterrent. Wi-Fi cameras are pretty cheap now too. If you are crafty, you could also wire up a motion/beam-triggered door chime, except replace the chime sound with a recording of a shotgun racking. ![]() |

Good ideas guys - thanks. Strangely I had quite a good nights sleep (devil for punishment). Sadly seven of my goldfish died yesterday, my garage 9/10ths broken into and I got a large tax bill; so I was looking to take it out on someone. Now that the madness is wearing off I think an electronic solution is best. At the time I was hanging out for a chase and street fight LOL. But today I'm back to being Mr Mellow

A fish line across the driveway tied to a pop can full of washers on a table inside the house. 0$

Or a "wife filed for divorce"
I've only been tempted to do a stake out twice over the years. Once in the dojo I was at to get a rat/mouse that was chewing stuff up (success! donut for bait and an air rifle) and once was for vandals and theft. For the vandals/theives I was in the bushes across the road, heavily armed and amped up on waaaay to much coffee. |

LOL, oh no. I was staying sober to give me as much advantage as possible.
I think the door chime/driveway chime is a good idea so I don't need to arm and disarm it all the time. I think the average small time opportunist type intruder would run a mile if he heard a loud chirp as he made it into the garage. |

Here in the states, you can buy a trip wire that uses a 12g shell as the alert device. The intent is, obviously, to use a blank and make a really loud noise and I'd imagine trying to use any sort of shot wouldn't work very well, but you can also buy 12g shells stuffed with CS. Friggin hilarious practical joke, but also a pretty good deterrent to someone not accustomed to CS.

Haha, now THAT'S my sort of practical joke!
I've just setup a motion sensor floodlight in the garage. These people are not from the Italian Heist, they are just opportunist half wits and I think (hope) a blast of light in their face will send them fleeing. |

Bill, what if they leave you a note thanking you for making it easier for them to see what to steal?
