The Mythbusters tried to build one of those and couldn't get it to work, but it looked cool.
Assuming the intent of the original question was that you have a million dollars and you have to spend it on something frivolous... If it was an extra mil I'd already have the house and land, so then I'd have a couple of things left, travel, cars, a couple of watches, lots of stuff, it would actually be really hard to prioritize stuff so I could decide what to buy. I'm sure I could come up with lots, and lots of stuff that I wanted.
