This would be my suggestion next time. Anyone can access the United clubs for $50 a visit, just walk in. They have reps there who can help you and generally have no line. So, instead of standing in line for 2 hours, or going home, you could use $50 and possibly get fastlane type service in the Club. At least you would get a free glass of wine or two and some snacks for the $50...
