Sunrise at the solstices
I've got a great view of the Houston skyline towards the east, so I've been watching the location of the Sun at sunrise. It was interesting to see the variation in the spot that you first see the sun between the two solstices. Unfortunately, I don't have photos of both.
Today's sunrise Not quite the summer solstice, but a few weeks after. On the solstice, the sun rose from the left of the tall antenna tower that it's to the right of in this crappy pic.

It is amazing how far the apparent movement of the sun really is. The axial tilt of the eatrth is pretty significant. The reason for the seasons is Axial Tilt.

I think today's sunrise occurred at approx ~117.33°
and the summer solstice was ~62.75°

You must be at the North Pole. North Pole, Alaska that is or at about the same latitude. Your best friends are polar bears and eskimos.

South of anchorage. Suns still not up yet. I can handle the winter darkness. The summer light really messes with my head.

You must be above a Latitude of 63 degree North, so I'm guessing Alaska, Yukon or North West Territory...

I was thinking up a south of Fairbanks. I supposed, "south of Anchorage" is also south of Fairbanks.

Probably five hours of daylight if not for the mountains. On the plus side there's gonna be a quasi pagan bonfire on the beach tonight.
