Berlin attack

Truck drives in on crowd attending a Christmas fair, killing nine and injuring fifty...
:(
Terrorist attack, inspired by the attack in Nice, France.

I'm lost for words.

I am sure we will all see the big bollards and barriers in a lot more places to keep vehicles like trucks out.

It is that religion of peace just doing what they do best, killing innocent people.

I hear that security precautions were minimal. Which I don't understand in times like these.

You can't put armed soldiers at every farmer's market in the world.

People need to hold their elected officials accountable for ignoring the fact that most of these types of attacks share a common source. Muslims simply have a greater liklihood of perpetrating terror. That is not a pejorative statement, that is an empirical fact. There needs to be criminal penalties for simply having extreme Muslim views, absent of a criminal act. Until that happens, the rest of us will just have to let stuff like this happen. It's either / or.

What if the people were armed?

Nah, that would be like putting fire extinguishers in every kitchen, or smoke detectors in every dwelling. - crazy talk.

Just being reported:

Truck was from Poland and carrying a load of steel.

Truck owner says he lost contact with the driver and became concerned.

A dead person was found in the passenger seat of the cab.

The deceased was a Polish citizen.

The driver escaped, but a suspect was captured who authorities are trying confirm was the driver.

Looks to be a terrorist attack using a hijacked truck.

More loss, tragedy and pain... To be honest I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner.
It's like ISIS were waiting for the US election to be finalized. (Coincidence?)

But I have to ask. What would it take to evict "them" from The West?

Crowbob 12-19-2016 05:37 PM

Not to PARF this up Peter, but it may take a rich, arrogant and completely unconventional US president who can somehow rally the free peoples of the world...

Yeah, that fuse was lit in the OP.

Or ban box cutters and motor vehicles

The question is, what are EACH of us going to do about it?

My guess even if it happened in your neighborhood, likely nothing would be done.

Should you do something about it or even become vocal against muslim's, it automatically labels you in the FBI database.

fintstone 12-19-2016 06:23 PM

Stop importing them would be a start.

Baz 12-19-2016 06:29 PM

There's no way to stop attacks like this.....no way.

I agree with Island above - people just need to arm themselves....so at least they have a chance at self defense.

They don't call it the wild wild west for nothing!

So they hijacked a Polish box truck and crashed into a farmers market in Germany.

Uh. No.

Realistically, if these people were armed, what could they possibly do in this situation?

Crowbob 12-19-2016 07:18 PM

Well for one, the dead guy in the passenger seat might not be dead.

Tobra 12-19-2016 07:52 PM

Bob, if it went down like that, none of it happens, or the bad guys steal a different truck.

RKDinOKC 12-19-2016 08:08 PM

The solution that follows their same ancient "faith" mindset. Find out who did it. Kill them and their family stopping their bloodline. You make it so a terrorist isn't the only one responsible, their terrorists act effects their entire family. Like in boot camp, one person messes up the entire platoon gets punished.

Eloi waiting to be slaughtered and eaten by the ISIS Morlocks.

No, but concrete blocks to block traffic would make sense, IMO

I'm not saying it wasn't, seeing that that the subject is PARF prone, but if a fuse was lit, it was unintentionally.

My wife and I go to Germany every year to visit a Christmas fair, Aachen, Colonge, Düsseldorf... This year we didn't get around to it.
I have friends with close family ties in Berlin, maybe other Pelicans do too.
