big crappy, heavy, steel, bigboxstore bikes.

i just got ambushed by my wife. she did that Jedi mind trick on me..seriously they were the droids i was looking for!!!

i inadvertently got talked into assembling HUFFY bikes..okay not HUFFY, but the toys-R-US equivalent. its for the kids at a shelter so i am on board. she just texted me the instructions (which i am gonna ignore, per man-code section 10.4.a.b(2) "preservation of man-card holder status") i did notice it required slip joint pliers, adjustable wrench and a couple of screwdrivers.. gotta love the slip joint pliers.

i have no idea how many i am putting together, but they did say to bring a hand-truck. oh-o., i might try to get my office full of engineers to help.

i havent seen a Huffy for about 35 years. this is going to be fun. my boss is letting me off early since it's for the kids.

^ Those are the tools that you are not supposed to admit to owning to other Porsche guys. Good thing you're among friends. We will blame it on the Dark Side.

Show up with a snap-on socket set and matching box wrenches. Show the damn bikes who's boss.

Slip joint pliers? Give me a break.

I dunno...using slip joint pliers basically IS not using tools...

That must be like when a hooker grabs you by the balls? If "she" has a grip like visegrips, then you might be in the wrong part of town.

Yeah, in that case, vicegrips are no good. Well, unless you are into that sort of thing.

I think the slip joint pliers are for the headset, would be a big wrench that most people wouldn't own otherwise.

At least the kids will enjoy having a well put together bike. Sounds like fun, except for the hand truck part of it.

If you are putting multiple bikes together, you may want to bring a cordless drill with an extra battery, plus both nut/socket and screwdriver bit sets (in addition to hand tools).

Or, if you want to upgrade your man card to Gold Status, bring a big air compressor and some air tools.

Line assembly fabrication....
People to teach.

Steel bicycle frames rust eventually, but are easy to fix.

Looks like a great holiday project.
I'm jealous.

I wouldn't go near a Huffy, Murray, Muffy, Free Spirit or any department store bike with air tools. You're likely to blow the cheapo pot metal fasteners to pieces.

You've definitely been trapped Vash. Working on those bikes is absolute torture. They are junk. I'd want a liability waiver from the organization before I touched one of those piles of dog poo.

Good for you! I would love to spend some hours doing some useful wrenching that didn't involve rust.

Man, try dragging Trek hybrids out of the bike shop's basement to assemble and repeat for 5 day weeks. All of us bike mech's are 130lb weaklings to boot.
(full disclosure-I'm pt at best)

Haha!! So true. I was thinking the same thing as I started to mentally inventory my 18V power tools and Hazet 1/2" wrenches. Forget the pneumatic IR impact stuff.
