Tomatos?

Tomatos fruit or veggie? Half say its one thing, the other half says it the other. I learned its a in-between food. What say you?

Fruit

But, what exactly is a veggie? That's actually quite a bit harder to define.

Hard to say really. Tomatoes, eggplant, pumpkins and squash, cucumbers and melon are all grow from a flower. But does that make them fruit? What about green beans?

Corn is harder because it has pollen everywhere but acts like a grain, so the jury is out.

Potatoes, peanuts, radishes, carrots are roots. Are they veggies?

Roy Horn offers evidence that it's possible for a fruit to become a vegetable.

This gets complicated. The edible part of the potato is a tuber, not a root. The edible peanut is the fruit of the peanut plant, it is formed from the flower above ground and matures at or under the surface. Radishes and carrots are indeed roots.

First we need to agree on the spelling of 'tomatoes'.

A tomato is a berry.

Berry definition: Any fruit that has its seeds enclosed in a fleshy pulp, for example, a banana or tomato.

"Smart" is knowing tomatoes are fruit.
"Wise" is knowing to not put it in fruit salad.
