Bah humbug

I'm out. I'm off Xmas this year. Kids are sick. My throat hurts. I was working from 7a-5ish, doing a bunch of emergency surgery. I'm on call all night, plus all day and night tomorrow. I'm tired. I can't have a drink. My wife complained for 3 weeks about having to travel with the kids without me (since I'm working) but now they aren't even going (since they're sick) and now she's upset about that.

Bah effing humbug.
But Merry Christmas and what not to the rest of you

And on the bright side, your name is worth around 67 points in Scrabble! See, there's always a bright side, Merry Christmas!

Haha yep. Also, I'm not the one needing surgery, right?
The kids will have fun, just needed to rant a little. I feel better already

I'll second that with you, Soren. But consider yourself blessed for being capable and having the skills to help save people's lives when needed. Not everybody can do that.

My wife got released from the hospital today after some surgery. We're staying home and being "low-key" (which means I'm cleaning the house - again). Hopefully our local family members stay home tomorrow and we can avoid them.

Merry Christmas, everybody.

Well I'm back at the hospital (fire sale on appendectomies apparently) but I'm in a better mood.
Fan, hope your wife feels well soon and you get some rest

I'm sorry friend, crappy.

But there are people out there whose lives you touched that are thankful tonight, thankful that someone was there to help their loved one. You're doing real good for people.

Other than the kids being sick, I only see reasons to have a Merry Christmas. It's all in perspective and being thankful for what you've worked hard for, and how you are able to help others.

There are some pretty thankful people who appreciate what you do!

Nice to have everyone home at Christmas. Just my wife, son and Border Collie....

I had a minor surgery about 1.5 weeks ago. Wasn't looking forward to it but the writing was on the wall...

Surgeon walks into OR asks me how I am doing. I said I was OK and asked him how he was. He replied "I'm a little shaky but otherwise OK"......

Recovery hasn't been bad and while I hate to be laid up at Christmas I am thankful for the extra recovery time before heading back to work.

To the OP I have great respect for the docs that help us be healthy and fix us up. Just think when you retire you can think of the special work that you have done and have every Christmas day off.

Haha thanks guys, I survived the weekend, got to see the kids open presents, and have one surgery to go today then I can relax by the pool with a drink. All in all not bad, sorry for the rant (but it was therapeutic at the time!)

Merry Christmas
