My youngest cat is a girl and she is very small.
My oldest one is a dude, big

they both were going out to poop, and at some point the youngest one was getting beat up by nextdoor cat, and she started crapping inside..

Put up a litter box and that solved it for her..Neighbour cat went MIA, and another neighbour cat moved in to my place.. so now there is superiority and she poops outside again.
She basically has a body guard, as the Big Ginger likes her a lot.

If anything i think he's slightly friendzoned, he's nice to her and she might from time to time chase him or whack him over the head. women eh..

I can't have indoor cats, and they don't do well outside where I live now.

I like cats though, and they like me. An odd twist of fate, I guess.

Guy at work brought a cat in once that he was taking to the vet for the same reason. He closed it in a office and it peed and pooped all over the office. The cat was only there 3 hours. Found the cat had feline lukemia. Not a good trip to the vet but the guy didn't even bother to try to clean up the office his cat had used for a litter box.

My mom with alzheimer's lived with me of 10 years. She had a cat and a dog. I trained the cat to use the toilet so I wouldn't have to deal with the cleaning and cost of a litter box. The training device was called a Litter Quitter. Took about 3 weeks. Trained the dog to go in a specific place in the back yard to make it easy to scoop the day before trash day.

Frequently bad behavior is medical. Wait for the tests. Then one litter box per cat plus one more. Feliway works. We have 2 that occasionally get territorial - we plug in the Feliway and it settles down.
Cats don't like change either. Let it all settle down.

I'm not interested in having another indoor cat. My last guy, Rudy, lived outside, patrolled the perimeter, and we had no chipmunk or squirrel problems. I loved him. We had an indoor cat for about a year. I wasn't happy. The dogs weren't happy. He got out once and we never saw him again, so apparently he wasn't happy.
True story.
We were out of town when Rudy died. The kid doing yardwork around the house called to tell me, and I told him to bury him in the flower garden. Apparently the kid told his sister (who works for me full time) and let on that he had only buried ol' Rudy a couple of inches deep. She freaked out and told him to go back and dig a 2 foot hole or the cat would be dug up and eaten by a possum or something. We had come home by then, and were in bed when Jimmy showed up. We still crack up at the thought of watching this kid out in the rain at midnight digging up a dead cat to rebury it.

We have 2 cats and a dog. I do like them, the dog is a good one.
I've had cats for years, 2 boxes that are kept clean daily, never had a problem.
Dog (border collie cross rescue) smells bad enough that I shave her throughout the 3 seasons, winter I don't shave her because she goes out a lot.

I like that with cats you can go away for up to 3 weeks no problem, you can't leave the dog for one day. Wife retires in a few years and the kids will be grown up, I don't think we will replace any of them because we plan to do a bit of travelling.

Next day update:
Stitch is still doing his #2 outside the box. Popped a squat right in front of the wife, luckily she moved him to a towel before he pinched it off so it was easy to dispose of, but the smell was still horrendous

We've got 3 litter boxes through the condo. The biggest concern is this has been on-going for 2 months, before the move. No word back from the vet as their lab takes 24-48 hours. We're really hoping it is something that can be treated - not neurological. The Feliway arrives today so that should help them feel more comfortable in the home and not stress out.

At this point we're unsure of how to coax him into using the box for #2. Usually after a couple days being boarded they remember to ONLY go in the boxes.

We had one cat, a two year old Maine coon we got from the pound as a present for the daughter. He's a big relaxed baby killing machine.

We had one cat. Now we have two. This thing showed up on our doorstep on a sub zero night a few weeks ago. Hates everyone. Attacks the dogs, barfs, won't eat the cheap kibble, and now we find out she has worms.

worms are no big deal, they all have em if they hunt.
just dose em with drontal or some other antiworm pill

and stronghold every once in a while against other parasites.

Day 2 update: Heard from the vet. He thinks that Stitch may have the cat version of IBS. It hurts to go so he just goes wherever. They prescribed a steroid that should help relieve the pain.

I told my wife and I was laughing: Our cat is literally suffering from butt-hurt.

We'll put him on the steroids tonight and I'm putting out the feliway sprayers.

glad you are making some headway.
we had success with the sprayers, when our cat reacted badly to living in a new environment.

good on you, varmint, taking in a difficult stray. best of luck.

As are beagles.

Just took my cat to the vet for the first time since I've had her.

Nothing serious - just some dermatology stuff.

But holy cow did they want to/offer to do a bunch of $$$ stuff on her. The vet said she "felt" a murmur" and could do an echocardiogram for only $626. Vaccines and blood testing for another $184-356.

The cat is a stray I brought home a year ago. Awesome cat - zero drama. Super affectionate. Smart as hell and very low maintenance. I keep her inside at night but during the day she can go in or out as she pleases.

I got out for only $242 today for the exam and some meds....which is money well spent, IMHO.

My wife and I made up a song and sang it in the style of Les Miserables.

Based on that verse, “one more day”

Ours was, “No more cats”. Show tunes.

We’ve stuck with our vow. My neighbor just (;last night)asked for someone to watch his cat while he goes and vacations in Ireland. My other neighbor volunteered. She texted” where is the litter box?”
“By the stairs in the garage”

me: “ no way he uses it, the effer is crapping in my yard”

Neighbor, “ yea, he’s mostly outdoors now”.

“ we know - have a great trip”

(Sing it with me) “No more cats!”

We inherited an outside cat left behind when the neighbors across the road moved to Florida. It looked like the cat in Baz' picture. It had been on its own for about six months when it showed up on our property. We took it in as an outside cat, and my wife fell in love with it. A few weeks ago, we went to an art fair on Sunday morning. When we got back, the cat was not around and hasn't shown up since. So a mountain lion, bob cat, or coyote got it, and my wife is heart broken.

This is reminding me to change the cat litter box. Wait…why do I need two litter boxes?
