Don't like saying it, but Singer makes me appreciate impact bumper 911's more and more.
Not that I don't like longhoods, but they seem to keep on making the same car over and over..

I agree. The Singer price tag puts you into a large market of investment level cars. If you're looking for performance, the same money will put you into several supercars.

I just don't see the allure. It's one of those "I already have a stable of Ferrari's, Bugatti's, and a 100" yacht, so WTF else can I show off at the county club", kinda cars.

Ya know, I agree. I am an old enough geezer to remember the days of the early 911 at the local Porsche dealer. I remember thinking in the early 1970s how virtually every car got so ugly with the giant bumpers added on of the era. The one exception, the 911. I have actually preferred the look of the impact bumper cars since they were introduced over the old long hoods. I remember thinking at the time the impact bumper 911 was a better looking car. I still feel that way.

I do understand that is blasphemy in the long hood world but my opinion is more valid to me than the opinions of others anyway.

I also agree, for the money the singer is great, but I would buy a RUF before a Singer. Right after I pay off my 918.

Perhaps Singer's popularity has passed it's peak? I remember a guest on Jay Leno's show...forget who...mentioning that Singer just kept building the same thing over and over.

Because all of their lives, they've been told that this, (holds finger and thumb 4" apart), is 8".

I would literally lose sleep trying to decide between a Ruf RtR or RGT and a Singer 911. If Ruf were actively producing the CTR still, that would be another matter.

Ruf is still my holy grail 911. (Yellowwww!!)
(Or an original 911R, or a '73 RS, or even a '92RS, or a 964 3.6 Turbo.... actually, a Singer would be quite low on that list, if even...)

I said just that in my first post.. and I did not even see that show.
You don't have to be a psychic to notice that Singer only makes one car in different colors..
There really well made and put together and extremely well detailed and all, but even though I really like them first, they don't move me anymore.

If their level of creativity would match their craftmanship, that would put them in the same league as Ruf.... , in twenty or thirty years time...

Singers command the price they do because they are bespoke cars, each one (at least recently) is created to a buyer's unique taste. Then add in all the engineering and perfect execution that goes into each car.

Ruf makes race cars.

Singer makes couture cars.

Different buyers.

The latest offerings from Ruf (Modern Classic) are pretty interesting. They're now making their own pre 996 style 911 tubs. Carbon fiber, different wheel base etc...
