Inglorius Basterds

Anyone seen this yet? The reviews are pretty stellar, and i definitely plan on seeing it, i'm just curious what other pelicans might have thought of it.

Snipe - saw it last night. I really enjoyed it and it met my expectations for a Taratino film. If you like QT's other films then I think you'd enjoy this one a lot. Theater was packed for the showing we went to. Overall a great casting job. Didn't feel at all like 2 1/2 hours.

I love Tarantinos crime films.

True Romance, Resorvior dogs and Pulp fiction are to me the holy triumvirate of modern post scar face crime flicks.

His characters have an authenticity about them that you just don't see in other films.

Great film, and of course a great sound track.

I have just seen the short adds, Brad's accent sure sounds hokey, is it really that bad in the film or does it pass?

I'm not sure if Pitt is attempting a Southern accent or if his voice just comes out goofy as all get out!?!
I really hope the sound bites we get in the commercials are blowing it out of proportion because I like QT's films. I'm just disappointed in Pitt's choice as the lead in this film but could live with it if the accent weren't so poorly done.
They should have given the part to his wife... she's a better actor/actress than he is!

I seen it yesterday, i enjoyed it.

The movie went by really quick, quick enough that when it ended i was caught off guard. Pitts accent was alittle thick, but fit the character.

Pitt plays the character well. The accent is over the top, but so is the character he plays. Eli Roth has a special role as Donny Donowitz, have to wonder if QT had him in mind when he wrote the script.

Did I read somewhere that Brad Pitt is a Southerner by birth? Can't wait to see this picture.

Yep, his accent is meant to be like that I guess. He's from Mainderville (sp?) Tennessee.
I loved the movie and it flew by.

How would you rate it against Tarantino's other work?

Is this based on anything remotely real? Not that it matters. I like his films as well but they sure do leave an impression - cutting off and ear, getting man raped, getting a head blown off - harsh stuff but effective. I can only imagine what gore is in this flick (head popping open from a baseball bat?)

The story is fiction. I am sure that it is gory as all-get-out, but I would be willing to bet that the music is great, too.

Can't wait to see it, maybe this w/e.

I never cared much for QT's other films and think he's totally overrated. It almost seems like it's just fashionable to like his stuff. If this film is anything like the previews, I can't wait to NOT see it.

looking forward to it, not because of QT but because I like WW2 flicks.

I thought Kill Bill 1 and 2 sucked and (except for the trailers, and the charcater of "Stuntman Mike"--Kurt Russel rules) Grindhouse was a total piece of garbage.

I hope this puts QT back on track--Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, True Romance, and Dusk to Dawn is where he needs to be.

Interesting perspective here.......

Maybe that's the real reason I'm in no hurry - read, wait 'til it hits the "dollar movie" - to see it.....

I'd rather spend my cash on my car.

Not having any idea where "Mainderville, TN" is, I had to look it up. Pitt was born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri. No Tennessee connection - which probably explains the painful accent he's trying to pull off... As the old saying goes, "He ain't from around here..."
