Thumbs down Karls Jr New Burger $u(ks

Here in the States there is a fast food Hamburger chain called Carls Jr. They have introduced a new Chili Cheese Hamburger that looks absolutley delicious on the tellie. Thick pieces of juicy ground beef, slathered with Chili, lettuce, tomatoe and Onions. UMmmmmm........Anyway yesterday I decided to try one....what I got was 2 pieces of 3/8 inch thick shoe leather with no taste covered with a too salty, bland Chili......and no lettuce....all for $4.89....... Avoid at all costs.......it's just plain LOUSY.....

Think of Michael Douglas in Falling Down.....

That aside, I think the worst burgers in the world are found in Italy, McD, Burgy or any similar chain. The best recently was Cagney's in London.

The worst and the best burgers I've had are from South Africa. You go into a shop and look at the picture of the burger on the wall and like the look of it, then they pull a burger (already made up) out of the freezer and put it in a fricken microwave

But... They also have the best chicken burgers in a franchise (South African owned franchise) called Nando's which is suposedly Portuguese (Portugese who have been thrown out of Namibia and now live in South Africa). The burgers are really good and have a Jalepeno, plus other spices, sauce.

tabs,
As a CA resident (and a man of wealth and taste) you should know that the best fast food burgers are from In-N-Out.
Everytime I come to CA, I make it a point to hit as many In-N-Out's as I can.

Actually a In-N-Out clone by the name of EZ-Out makes a slightly better burger along the same lines.....they are mostly located out here in the Inland Empire though. Another famous LA Burger joint is TOMMYS.....now they are famous for their Chili Burgers... or for Pastrami sandwichs The Hat and I actually like their Chili Fries better than TOMMYS. I suppose every city has it's own great food joints

But out here in Sun drenched California one of the best Mexican Restruants is Manuel El Tepach located in East LA.....they serve 3 Taquitos heaped with with about 2 Avacados worth of Guacmoley, serve Machaca (Shredded beef, eggs, cheese, chilis, tomatoes panfried in Lard) that is to die for, and a Manuel Special Burrito that 18 inchs long and filled with everything including the kitchen sink......and if you hit the place right the old man will serve you a nice shot of Viejo Viergal Brandy on the side.....and it has a tiny little dining room but a hugh clientel that comes from all over the LA area to eat there....

Just got back from the bay area and also just had my first "In 'n Out" burger. They've got our local Dick's Drive-In beat by a mile!

Manuel El Tepeyac Cafe is located at 812 N. Evergreen in East LA. Couple of blocks south of Wabash. Near USC Medical Center. There is also one located across from the Catholic cemetary in Montebello, which was opened by a family member. Same menu.... I just know how to get there that all.

Been to Philliphas, didn't impress me....

I remember going to The Hat in Alhambra back in the 1950's as a small kid. Unfortunately nothing is the same as it once was.

How bout Pizza.....best place I know of in SO CAL is in Moreno Valley....and is called the Chicago Pasta House.( off the 60 FWY at Perris Blvd turn right so your on Sunnymead and bout a 1/4 mile West on Sunnymead across from the Bowling Alley is a litle house).....It's a deep dish Pizza. They line a cake pan with the dough, put in all the toppings Mushrooms, sausage, Pepperoni, onions, bell peppers and top it with cheese....then they put a paper thin layer of dough on top and seal it....then comes the sauce with a topping of Parmagina/Romano Cheese.... I can't even eat a medium one. The secret to cooking the top layer of dough is that they put a cast iron trivet on top, I believe they put the sauce on after the piazza is cooked. But it's to die for......

Well, the best "grease" burger I've ever had was at Jack-in-the-Box. It was an Ultimate Cheeseburger, which is unlike anything I've ever been able to buy here in Australia. Very greasy, very big and filled with mayonnaise (wtf?) and actually not too bad.

The best burger I've had though, remains the Chilis Restaurant Taco Burger. Outstanding!

Also, I can't believe how expensive Pizzas are in the USA! C'mon, guys, I thought American-Italians helped spawn the Pizza revolution and a Dominos Pizza (in Hawaii) cost be almost US$20! In Australia, we can buy succulent, mouth watering pizzas for as little as US$3!!

Would you believe GOOD pizza in Italy is close to the US price?
There are still places that do it cheap, but generally they start at about US$8 and go up rapidly and kill you with the price of the trimmings. The best pizza I know is the Dollaro in Monza, two pizzas, two beers, two deserts two coffees: US$65!

Pizza is expensive to make at home....the cheese, sausage, pepperoni, olives and mushrooms are all expensive items especially the way I put them on.

The new McDonalds 'flatbread' things are abhorrent. Basically some pasty bread crap, with mystery-meat chicken - but wait, it gets better! The other 'stuff' is just the same lettuce and mayo crap they put on big macs and whatnot.

I tried one of those Hardee's burgers - the one I think they say is the $6 burger - for just $3.95

Tasted lousy!!!

I agree with Adam's best "grease" burger comment on the Ultimate Cheeseburger.
