OT : Americas Cup - Anyone watching?

For some strange reason I'm hooked on the Americas Cup.

Right now it's down to Oracle and Alinghi racing in the pre lims Louis Vuitton Cup.

Oracle is from US and Alinghi is Swiss. The Swiss are ahead at four out of five. Best of Nine wins to go against the New Zealanders. Most likely the Swiss will win tomorrow.

If anyone else is into this or wants to see what's going on then

http://www.louisvuittoncup.yahoo.com

is a starting point.

If the Swiss win will every one be racing on Lake Geneva next time?

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

SoCal,

I think this stuff is great! I've been watching on and off on OLN.

Doesn't look too likely for the America's Cup to come back to America this time around.

I lost OLN when I went to digital cable, I'll miss the races.

I doubted that any Amarican team would make it this far. From what I'd seen in the first few races, we just don't have the edge anymore. IMO, we need some new blood and loose Connor. Who's on Oracle?

I can see the Swiss beating us on the ski slopes, but sailing...?

Not to entice the censorship police but... IF you just happen to acquire one of the old analog cable tuners for your area, Scientific Atlanta or whatever brand, that MAY BE unlocked you most likely will be able to get half of your cable channels.

The cable company keeps the basic to intermediate channels on the analog side because many cable customers still have the analog boxes. Cable modems use the lower part of the analog side frequencies.

Since cable companies have made an extensive investment in analog equipment you are going to find the analog channels here for a long time to come.

While I don't have an unlocked box I am borrowing one of the neighbors analog tuners and I find these channels here on the cable modem feed.

At $50 a month for just a cable modem I do think the cable companies should kick in some of the 200 channels.

LVC race off:

Yes I'm surprised that the Swiss Alinghi boat has come this far. But money and a mostly NZ crew have paid off.

Oracle is Larry Ellison's boat. Yes the guy who owns Oracle Software. Over $200 million invested and he made it to the finals. Ellison has partnered with BMW on this. No Ellison is not on the boat. Although he follows along side the course in his multi million dollar four story yacht!

Oracle beat One World, another American entry, to race Alinghi again. These last five races has seen leads of over two minutes to sail touching sail down wind duels.

Conner's entry sunk early in the race offs. To bad as Conner is a good challenger.

Alinghi is just a slightly faster boat and this is what has enabled them to win. Some of Oracle's fumbled tactics have helped too.

I don't know if others have read this far but there is nothing like the five minute duel to the start line between two 90 foot, $200 million carbon fiber sail boats to get the blood pumping. You would be surprised to see how tight these things can turn and that they can back up.
