Which way does the air deflector go onto the alternator?

Sorry if this has been answered before but I can't seem to find it. My alternator went bad and so I removed it, had the fan and housing cleaned and cleared and am ready to put the rebuilt alternator back into the car. I am just trying to sort out how the plastic deflector cone goes onto the rear of the alternator. Is there a specific way it goes? I took pics of the rear of the alternator to get the wiring back where it needs to be but I can't really tell from the pics how the deflector was oriented.

1984 3.2 L

Thanks.

Your post just reminded me I have some 911s! Awesome

Mount it so the fins push the air downwards.

Try test fitting the alternator and air deflector together first to see where the notch goes. If the fan scrapes the housing, then tighten the opposite bolt some more to rotate the alternator and fan away from the housing.
