W/7 question
While looking into a loud buzz while watching a U-Tube video, I updated the audio driver in the device manager. The update was loaded, haven't had the buzz come back....yet.
Prior fix was disconnecting power and battery, reboot, which is hard on the O/S.... Anyways under "other device" I noticed I have an error "!" for base system device. No update works and it is an unknown manufacturer. I have no known issues....is this important or needs to be fixed?

I'm on Win 10 now and don't have any unknown devices, so forgive me if I don't get this just right.
Right click the unknown device in device manager and select properties. Go to the details tab and under property select Hardware Ids. Try googling the value and it may give you a clue as to what device it is. Stay away from the generic driver download sites, I don't trust anything there to not have malware, only download from the manufacturer's site. Or, if you're not missing any functionality, don't worry about it, just ignore it. |
