Wow..........that is one of the COOLEST vehicles I have seen in a LONG time!
Oh my goodness.....Wayne you ARE the man! :D |
I was in the room when it sold
Cool that they drove it into the back of the tent vs. onstage Great vehicle Enjoy :) |
Wayne,
You just drop those kids off at school like you were in a Buick. I'm guessing the kids would have to climb out the top one at a time. Then just drive off. I know it's California and everything but I bet no one's fascination would let them look away. Cool. |
Cool as hell. And I'm going to use the "my kids dared me to...." excuse which covers a multitude of things, as soon as I have a kid.
|
A man and his toyz :)
You rock Wayne!!! |
Now I want one....
|
You can get a license plate and road insurance?
Cool beans man, living the dream. |
You could contract it out to Canadian border patrol to keep all those actors from sneaking in :D
As for the school weapon, a kid in the news was banned after coming to school with a camp hat with an army man stuffed under the strap as a halloween outfit or something. Army man was a weapon, or had a weapon, who knows! Cool toy! |
BOY YOU DON"T SEE ONE OF THOSE EVERYDAY:eek:
Claim it is a Hummer that you got from Arnold.:p LOL what the fk are you going to dowith that? And I thought I was a sucker...:D The guy/dealer had it for 39K and could not sell it..for quite some time so he decided to lay it off at auction to GET RID OF IT. Was it 22K PLUS BUYERS PREMIUM? OR is that out the door? ;) Renting it out to movies might be a salvation and can maybe turn you some coin...so u might do alright with it. Selling it, well you know the previous owner could not unload it for 39 and probably was willing to come down off that lofty perch to GET RID OF IT. SmileWavy |
I have spent lots of money at auctions over the years...
Usually I will set a price in my head, the bidding goes to that point..so others have had the same price idea that I have. Lots of times I will go Ohhhhh OOOKKKay I will go one more bid...and I will get it.. on those items I usually do real well. Then there have been times when I have said "I WANT IT"...then I have at times gotten into trouble..and have overpaid...where I pay the price for my irrational exuberance when go to sell it. Generally it is a haircut and not a total loss. Which i have made up for in my next purchase. Sometimes the bidding goes right by my price point even before I can get a bid in and then I usually say what am I missing with this one???? Then there are times when I get something for 1.5 and it turns out to be worth 5....those are the times I like...:) THE GENERAL IDEA IS TO KNOW THE VALUE AND NOT TO CHASE. |
What's next? MRAP? APC?
|
"Shut up and send me more pigs to kill" ;)

Your rationalization that the auction estimate was 40 to 60 as a means of assuaging your anxiety that u dun ok shows that you dont understand the psychology behind those estimates. Some auctioneers like John Gangle use low estimates to entice bidders into thinking that they can get it cheap. Others like Julia's run their estimates optimistically so that buyers think they are getting a bargain when they win the bid below estimate and or are ready to dig deeper into their pocket . Also the optimistic estimates makes for happier consignors. Then there is the Lot order set up in the auction to get maximum action. Many times auctioneers own a number of the Lots they are auctioning. Then I even have a suspicion that an auctioneer will bury a good item deep in the auction which winds up as a sleeper? |

There is money. And then there is Wayne money.

Every parent wants their kid to drive a slow, safe, vehicle that's built like a tank :)
How long before he's driving it to school? |
My Dad bought the last couple cars that he owned at Dealers auctions.
My experience has been with spoon, art, antiques and general merchandise auctions. I have dealt with every major spoon auctioneer, along with dozens of the second and third tier ones from coast to coast and even over seas. On several occasions I have been a successful phone bidder down under. In all of this I do know their quirks and reputations about how clean their fingers are. Then I can gauge the strength that an auction went off by the prices realized in relationship to their estimates. Then from watching the overall results of a number of auctions from coast to coast on a weekly basis you can begin to gauge the strenght of markets. Which can be used as a factor in determining what is going on in the general economy. |
Id definitely put some zombie survival stickers on that thing quickly to make it a little less serious to the school moms.
As is they'll be calling homeland security. With decals they'll just think you are a little weird but harmless :D |
I want one!
(I'd put a plow on it for snow removal. A gnarly looking Zombie plow, but a plow none the less, Who wouldn't want to hire THAT plow guy ):) |

If the pics are of your unit, that's a Mk 2/3 with the fully rotating turret, like mine. Earlier series had no turret at all (mk1) or a fixed turret (mk 1/2). The numbers stenciled right above the hatch are your VIN, which is how the Brits identified each vehicle, even on the battle field. What makes these a good buy is how much original gear that it came with. I have every radio, book, tool, tarp, grenade box, and ammo can for mine. It is interesting to drive, with the counter positioned steering wheel you have to pass the steering wheel through your hands, a lot like a boat. You also have to get used to the pre-select gearbox and the GCP (gear change pedal) which is NOT a clutch. Your gun mount will be for a Browning 1919, or an M240G. I have fitted a live 1919 to my turret. Mine isn't for looks, and where I live, I can use it. My daughter and I love ours. Trips to school are a blast, and I drive it all over our rural area. People have gotten used to my crazy stuff around here, so no one really thinks twice when they see it rolling down the road. I've bought an FPV432 Armored Personnel Carrier and mightbsell my Ferret, since rolling on tracks is the next level of MV ownership. The Ferret has been very cool, but make sure you understand about servicing the unit and how to drive it before you blow something up. Pulling the gearbox is is not for the faint of heart. I recommend tossing the old clansman intercom and fitting it with a modern unit from Pacific Coast Aviation. It's noise cancelling and simple. You must have this as the sounds in the cockpit are insane from the planetary gears, engine and etc. I have also fitted mine with back up cameras on each side of the turret, and in the rear. Without these it is very hard to drive this unit without an assistant in the turret clearing you for traffic negotiation. You can't see very much out of the hatches. Here's mine. Ava loves it, she does like to waste ammo though.. Good thing I like to reload.
