do those cell signal boosters work?
i'm talking the one you attach to your car..not the ones that stick to the back of your cell phone.
i need some boost. most of my projects are way out on the coast and i am damn near unreachable. i think units cost around $800?

and at the top of this page right now I see an ad for "weboost" - Boost your cell signal up to 32X in your home or vehicle.
It must work - they wouldn't advertise it if it weren't true! ![]()

Can't vouch for one that goes in a car, but I've put a couple in at work and they do help. They have an outside antenna and inside unit.

nope.. they don't especially now that all cell communications are digital..
That kind of worked in the 80's.. and only the hard wired ones to the phone. You can get a satelite cellphone, that will work anywhere and they're not much more than a smart phone if I remember..

I use the type in my home that sends the signal to the net. Without it I have no service.

I have a Wilson signal booster installed in our RV. Works great. Antenna mounted on the roof goes to powered booster box, and from that a small cable with a rectangle antenna that you can position wherever you'd like. Kinda funny to see 3 or 4 people huddled around it or near the front of our RV because it's the only place with reception. They do work remarkably well, and I'm sure by now there's better versions out there.
