Huracan beats the 918 on the ring
But I'm thinking these aren't street tires.
He's still got ones of steel though

Technically it says they are "road" tires but not sure how R compounds are: Pirelli Trofeo R tires.

not really surprising that a purebreed piston engine is faster than a hybrid.

What tires does the 918 run? Mich Pilot Sport Cup or something like that?
You would expect a lighter pure combustion vehicle to be faster, but these days, it's ofter the added torque and traction of the awd hybrids that's kicking butt on race courses.

Wow, it all sure comes at you quickly at that pace!
The driver seemed so smooth, almost relaxed. Cool Cheers Richard |

Yes, it is faster off the line than most vehicles. It also depletes its full battery charge in seconds when you do that.
My car is fast, but not as fast as a Tesla. I can sprint off the line, then drive it to Chicago and back. The Tesla owner can sprint off the line, charge for a few hours, drive to Chicago (and possibly have to top off on the way), charge for a few hours when they get their, and drive back (and possibly have to top off on the way back).

That's fast for a street car but it's still 40+ seconds slower than Stefan Bellof achieved in a 956 almost 35 years ago...
There's probably video of it somewhere. Also a video of Derek Bell in a similar car, with commentary. JR |

Was reading a thread over on Rennlist. The Trofeo R beats the Pilot Sport Cup 2 like "day and nignt" on one member's GT3.

And after the Tesla hit's 60 it's a dead duck. The Malibu is pulling away. And after three attempts at ludicrous mode the Tesla driver is....ahem.... walking home. |

I just don't think because the 918 incorporates electric technology will necessarily make it slower than a purely piston driven car. Last edited by JD159; 03-03-2017 at 09:43 AM.. |

JD whatever you're trying to post isn't there. But here's something for you regarding it's attempt to lap Nurburgring:
