Prototipo wheel, why so much?
I notice the older Prototipos are about getting close to 1000 bucks, why? Ones from the 80s? What's the difference between ones now and those old ones? Why are they so especial? I have one in my early car and someone pointed it out to me on the cost.

No, no, no, that's 1000 yen. I'll definitely give you 1000 yen for yours.
Yeah, dunno, maybe then you could call it period? I might understand if it was from the 60s or 70s, but if it's from the 80s, what's the big deal?

Cheaper than that Ebay for $219.95 shipped. I don't know why the older ones are so expensive either. I keep looking to put a 70's era on my car but can not justify a Grand or more. That being said there is a 1970 on Ebay for $500.00 but still ca not come to pull the trigger.

Oftentimes earlier ones are 370 mm diameter, whereas current ones are 350 mm.

The older ones are thicker. The difference in finish is noticeable. Then again, you're buying a 30+ year old used steering wheel.

Some people just like old stuff.
A guy here at work in his mid 20s just bought a 68 Beetle. Wants to learn basic DIY and likes the look.

Wheel diameter.
370 mm MOMO Prototipos are pretty hard to find.

370mm
Early proto prices are crazy. If you are not particular about it, here is an alternative to those who are looking for 370mm prototipo style steering wheel. I got mine from karmann konnections last year. It's a flat one (non dished) for gbp289 believe shipped to the us cost less than gpb25 iiric. It aint a momo but i got the right size i wanted.
